Tottenham are preparing a bid to sign Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo amid doubts about his Reds future, reports Caught Offside.

Spurs came close to being relegated from the Premier League last season and have to ensure that doesn't happen again. They've already signed Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth to improve their defence, and are now looking to strengthen up top.

Report have suggested they want to land Liverpool's Gakpo, and Caught Offside have since validated those claims, stating the Tottenham are now preparing a big for the Dutchman.

After a dip in form last season, Gakpo's Reds future is in doubt, and the north London club seem to be eager to capitalise on that.

It's said Tottenham are leading the race for Gakpo's signature, and have plans in place to offer €70million (£60.4m) for his services.

The offer has not yet been made but it's being made clear it's in the works, though there is no steer on if Liverpool will accept it, and if not, how much they would accept.

Gakpo scored just once in the final 10 games of the Premier League season - all of those starts and six from centre-forward - as the Reds slumped to a fifth-placed finish, so they'll be assessing the forward's future.

Gakpo has more admirers

Newcastle and Bayern Munich are both said to be monitoring Gakpo's situation.

The German club's interest is long-standing, as they wanted the Dutchman last summer when they signed then-Liverpool team-mate Luis Diaz.

The Colombian has been an absolute revelation, with 26 goals and 23 assists in his debut season, though Bayern are looking to add depth to their attack and could therefore go after Gakpo again.

They have also looked at Marcus Rashford and Gabriel Martinelli, though, with Rio Ngumoha also in their sights, so there's a chance the interest in Gakpo is never fully firmed up.

On the player's side, it's not believed he has made a decision on his future, though it's not expected he is going to push to depart Anfield this summer, despite the departure of Dutch boss Arne Slot.

Gakpo played 101 times under Slot at Liverpool, with only three Reds players exceeding that during his time at the club, and there has been speculation that the boss being sacked has unsettled him.
