Tottenham Consider £30m Arthur Vermeeren Transfer as Lucas Bergvall Exit Nears

Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a £30m move for RB Leipzig midfielder Arthur Vermeeren, reports German publication Fussball Daten.
Spurs have already bolstered their midfield with the additions of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali from West Ham and Newcastle United, respectively, to cover the exits of Yves Bissouma and Joao Palhinha.
However, the north London side are considering adding Belgian star Vermeeren as they continue their summer recruitment drive.
The 21-year-old played under current Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi during his loan spell with French side Marseille last season up until the Italian’s departure in February.
Vermeeren joined the Ligue 1 side last summer and went on to make 20 league appearances, starting 10 times.
Bergvall out, Vermeeren in?
The capital outfit are now looking into the possibility of pursuing Vermeeren as a potential replacement for Lucas Bergvall.
Bergvall is widely expected to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer despite the club’s best efforts to retain the Swede’s services.
The Sweden international, who featured in all four of his nation’s 2026 World Cup games, starting once, struggled for regular game time last season.
The 20-year-old started just 11 league matches, in part due to injuries, and a lack of European action combined with the additions of Fernandes and Tonali means playing time will be harder to come by.
Nottingham Forest have been credited with an interest in Bergvall as a replacement for Elliot Anderson after the England star secured a move to Manchester City earlier this month.
However, the Tricky Trees have already seen a £38m bid for Bergvall rejected, with Spurs demanding at least £50m for the Swede.
Attack the priority for Spurs
Should Bergvall depart the club this summer, then Spurs may consider a move for Vermeeren, though they have other priorities at present.
Spurs are expected to focus on their attack having bolstered in defence and midfield.
Brazilian winger Savinho is again being linked with a move to Spurs and the former Girona man is tipped to secure a switch to London before long.
