Mike Maignan is edging towards the AC Milan exit with Chelsea and Juventus circling the France number one, reports GOAL.com.
Maignan was heavily linked with a move away from Milan over the summer, with Chelsea previously keen on the Frenchman.
However, the Blues were thwarted in their efforts to lure Maignan away from the Rossoneri as new boss Max Allegri intervened to block the deal.
AC Milan are desperate to retain Maignan’s services and Italian outlet Calciomercato has reported that the club have offered the goalkeeper a two-year extension that will take his salary from €2.8m to €5.5m per year.
Chelsea and Juventus on alert as Maignan rejects contract offer
However, the 30-year-old has not been convinced to sign a new contract with the Serie A powerhouse and that no further talks are scheduled between player and club.
That has put both Chelsea and Juventus on alert as they consider a move for the former Lille star.
Maignan, whose current deal expires at the end of the season, is free to pen a pre-contract with interested parties from January 1st.
The Blues are pushing to sign a long-term replacement for Robert Sanchez, who has failed to convince head coach Enzo Maresca that he is the solution to Chelsea’s goalkeeping issues.
Filip Jorgensen has also flattered to deceive following his arrival from Villarreal, while the inexperienced Mike Penders is currently on loan at French side Strasbourg.
Juventus, meanwhile, are looking to bring in a world class shotstopper to provide competition for current first choice goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.
The Old Lady recently appointed former Napoli and Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti to succeed Igor Tudor in Turin with the 66-year-old set to have a big say in transfers.
AC Milan challenging for the Scudetto
Maignan might yet depart AC Milan with a Serie A winners’ medal with Allegri’s side a major player in the race for the Scudetto owing to their lack of European commitments.
AC Milan are currently second to Roma by two points in Italy’s top tier following their 1-0 win over rivals Inter at the weekend, a match in which Maignan saved a second half Hakan Calhanoglu penalty.
Christian Pulisic scored the only goal of the game 10 minutes after the break as Allegri oversaw just a second win from his side’s last five league games.
