New Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has revealed he will hold talks with midfielder Curtis Jones over his future at the club.
Jones has been linked with a move away from Anfield in recent months having been subject to interest from Italian side Inter Milan back in January.
The Serie A champions have again been linked with a move for the England international this summer, while Nottingham Forest are eyeing up Jones as a potential Elliot Anderson replacement.
Anderson secured his £116m move to Manchester City earlier this month, though Forest are buoyed by reports that Ibrahim Sangare will extend his stay at the City Ground.
'I rate Jones highly'
However, despite interest from Forest and Inter, Iraola is hoping to convince the 25-year-old that his future lies on Merseyside.
“I will have the chance to speak with him today [Monday]. I rate Curtis very highly,” Iraola said.
“For me he is a great, great player and I hope he can continue with us and continue performing the way he has been performing.
“It’s very important that he’s Scouse, that he’s from here. I also like the personality.
“From the outside at least he looks like a player with good character and I hope we can keep him, not only for this year but for more time.”
Jones was a first-team regular under former head coach Arne Slot having made 34 league appearances for the 2024/25 champions.
However, just 18 of those appearances came from the outset, with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch ahead of Jones in the midfield pecking order.
