Ibrahim Sangare is set to put pen to paper on a new Nottingham Forest contract in a huge boost to head coach Oliver Glasner, reports The Telegraph.

Glasner succeeded Vitor Pereira at the City Ground helm earlier this month, shortly after Elliot Anderson’s move to Manchester City was confirmed.

Anderson’s departure is a blow for the Tricky Trees, but news of Sangare’s contract extension will be welcomed at the City Ground.

Sangare set to be rewarded

The 28-year-old struggled for regular game time following his arrival from Dutch side PSV in 2023 but he played a key role for the Midlands side as they consolidated their Premier League spot.

Sangare also started three of Ivory Coast’s four games at the 2026 World Cup before their round-of-32 exit at the hands of Norway.

And now he’s set to be rewarded for his performances in a Forest shirt with a new deal until 2029.

Forest linked with Bergvall and Jones

Attention will then turn to strengthening the midfield following Anderson’s big money move to the Etihad Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Lucas Bergvall has been linked with a move to Forest, though Spurs are hoping to keep the highly rated Swede.

Bergvall endured an injury-hit campaign and it meant the 20-year-old was limited to just 11 league starts for the north London side.

A lack of European action combined with the arrivals of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali from West Ham and Newcastle, respectively, has pushed Bergvall further down the pecking order.

The youngster is believed to have requested to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, however head coach Roberto De Zerbi is hoping to retain his services.

Curtis Jones is another on Forest’s radar as Glasner’s side look to replace Anderson.

However, Liverpool are reluctant to cash in on Jones, who was linked with a January move to Inter Milan.

The Italian side remain interested in the England international, but are yet to lodge another bid for the Reds man.
