  • No team has taken more points away from home in the Championship than Millwall’s 37

  • Stoke have lost three of their last five matches

  • Recommended bet: Millwall to win

A 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers at the weekend has kept Millwall firmly in the race for automatic promotion.

They are currently level on points with Ipswich, although the Tractor Boys do have a game in hand.

The Lions, therefore, cannot afford to slip up during the remainder of the campaign, and the fixture list could hardly have been kinder, starting with a clash against 17th-placed Stoke.

Mark Robins' side have struggled all season and while they are safe, another campaign of mid-table mediocrity looks like their fate.

Team news

Ben Gibson is a doubt for Stoke after missing their loss to Wrexham with a groin issue.

Aaron Creswell and Bosun Lawal also look unlikely to feature after limping off in that game.

Ben Wilmot, Makysm Talovierov, Viktor Johansson, Tomas Rigo, Ato Ampah and Steven N'Zonzi are also injured.

On a brighter note, Ashley Phillips returns from suspension and should feature.

Millwall are set to be without Joe Bryan, Billy Mitchell and Alfie Doughty through injury in this clash.

Derek Mazou-Sacko is also a doubt after coming off against QPR last time out.

The stats

Stoke have a poor record against these opponents, winning just one of the last 14 league games between these two.

Millwall have kept a clean sheet in six of the last seven head-to-heads, winning five of those.

Alex Neil's men are also unbeaten in their last seven away games.

In fact, no team in the second tier has lost fewer away games than the Lions' four.

Four of Stoke's last five matches have gone under 2.5 goals.

Prediction

Millwall are chasing automatic promotion to the Premier League and they can keep up the pressure on Ipswich with a win over Stoke in midweek.

Robins' hosts are beset by an injury crisis, particularly defensively, and that spells trouble against a Millwall side who have been impressive on the road.

The Lions have the best away record in the Championship and should have little issue getting the better of a battered and bruised Stoke side, who are desperate for the end of the season to come.

Millwall's impressive away form includes wins at Middlesbrough, Wrexham and Hull, three teams who have been far better than the Potters this term.

Any replication of their normal away performances should be enough to see Neil's men move one step closer to a spot in the top flight with a win.
