Phil Foden to Sign New Man City Contract Until 2030, Ending Transfer Speculation

Phil Foden is set to put pen to paper on a new Manchester City contract, reports the Athletic.
Foden’s current deal expires next summer and the Premier League title contenders were keen to tie the England down to a long-term contract.
The 25-year-old is now expected to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2030, with an option for a further 12 months.
Foden was linked with summer exit
It’s good news for City and Foden, who has found himself out of favour under Pep Guardiola in recent months.
Foden has scored seven goals and laid on an additional three assists for City this season, but has started just two league games since the start of February having lost his spot in the side to Rayan Cherki.
A lack of game time saw Foden linked with a summer exit, with German side Bayern Munich also credited with an interest in the City youth academy product.
However, the new deal will end any speculation linking Foden with a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.
City's title push took a hit on Monday
City saw their title aspirations suffer a huge hit on Monday night as they were held to a 3-3 draw at Everton.
Jeremy Doku fired City in front on the stroke of half time but Pep Guardiola’s side were unable to build upon the Belgian’s first half effort.
As such, City found themselves 3-1 down with 10 minutes to go as a Thierno Barry brace and a Jake O’Brien strike looked to end the Manchester giants’ title hopes for good.
Erling Haaland and a late Doku effort rescued a point for City but the result leaves them five points behind league leaders Arsenal with four games to play.
Guardiola’s men can close the gap to two points on Saturday evening when they welcome Brentford to the Etihad Stadium before Arsenal travel to West Ham on Sunday.
