Manchester United are working on a deal to sign Brazilian midfielder Danilo as a replacement for compatriot Casemiro this summer, according to Fogao.
Casemiro will leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the season and United are already drawing up a wishlist of replacements for the former Real Madrid man.
Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni and Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton both feature on United’s radar as the Premier League side look to invest in a key area this summer.
And Botafogo star Danilo is another to have been linked with a move to United as Michael Carrick’s side target another central midfielder.
Danilo thriving back in Brazil
The 25-year-old has established himself as a key player for the Brazilian giants having struck seven goals and laid on an additional two assists in the 2026 Brasileirao campaign.
Danilio only returned to his native Brazil in 2025 following a stint with Nottingham Forest, where he struggled to consolidate a starting spot.
However, his fine form for Botafogo saw him rewarded with a Brazil call-up in March, where he featured in meetings with France and Croatia.
United would face competition for Danilo
And his performances for Botafogo haven’t gone unnoticed with a number of European sides monitoring the midfielder’s form.
Not only have United been credited with an interest in Danilo, but Fulham, Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen are all supposedly keeping tabs on the player.
They’d have a tough time convincing Botafogo to cash in on their prized player, who is contracted to the Brazilian giants until 2029.
As such, Botafogo would likely reject any offers below €40m as they look to retain Danilo’s services.
Michael Carrick's side secure Champions League football
United wrapped up a return to the Champions League with an entertaining 3-2 win over rivals Liverpool on Sunday.
Matheus Cunha put United ahead early on before Benjamin Sesko doubled the home side’s advantage in the 14th minute.
Liverpool were level in the 56th minute after Dominik Szoboszlai followed up his fine low strike with the assist for Cody Gakpo.
Carrick’s men, though, were back ahead in the latter stages of the five-goal thriller as Kobbie Mainoo picked the perfect time to score his first league goal of the season to secure victory for United.
