Manchester United are looking to sign Brentford striker Igor Thiago as they seek to strengthen their frontline this summer, reports SportsBoom.

Central midfield is a priority for United, but they are also weighing up a move for the Brazilian goal machine ahead of their Champions League return.

United are 11 points clear of sixth with four games to play, and can wrap up a spot in Europe’s elite club competition when they welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

United considering second Brentford raid

And they are aiming to launch another raid on Brentford in their bid to bring in a new forward.

The Manchester giants spent big to bring frontman Bryan Mbeumo to the club last summer, and the Cameroon international has impressed in his debut campaign at United, scoring nine goals and laying on an additional three assists.

They’ll hope for a repeat in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements with Thiago lighting up the Premier League this season.

The Brazil international remains hot on Erling Haaland’s heels in the race for the Golden Boot having struck 21 league goals for the Bees in the 2025-26 campaign.

World Cup showing may drive up asking price

However, Brentford will demand a hefty fee for their star striker, who only put pen to paper on a new deal at the Gtech Community Stadium back in February.

And with Thiago expected to make Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup, the west London side will demand upwards of £60m for the 24-year-old.

That fee would undoubtedly rise should Thiago shine for the South American powerhouse at football’s showpiece this summer.

Brentford looking to return to winning ways

Brentford have been among the Premier League’s surprise packages this season and currently sit ninth in the division, just two points off Brighton in sixth, though a 2-1 defeat to United on Monday night extended their winless run to six matches.

Keith Andrews’ side can take a significant step towards a European finish with a win over relegation threatened West Ham on Saturday.
