Liverpool have identified Tottenham forward Randal Kolo Muani as the ideal replacement for the injured Hugo Ekitike, according to Italian publication Tuttosport.

Ekitike is unlikely to play again this year having suffered an Achilles tendon rupture in the Reds’ 2-0 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.

And the defending Premier League champions are considering potential replacements in the market with Kolo Muani emerging as a possible target for the Merseyside giants.

Liverpool want one-goal Tottenham striker

The France forward, who is currently on loan at Spurs from PSG, has struggled for consistency for the disappointing north London outfit this season.

The 27-year-old has scored just once for the 2025 Europa League winners in the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.

There were rumours that Spurs would cut his loan deal short at the turn of the year, with a move to Juventus on the cards at the time.

Kolo Muani spent the second half of last season on loan with the Italian giants, though Spurs elected to retain the forward’s services.

And despite a sub-par stint in the capital, Liverpool have earmarked Kolo Muani as a possible summer signing.

Reds expected to strengthen attack this summer

Liverpool are expected to undergo a hefty revamp in the off-season, despite spending big to bring in Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Ekitike, to name three, last year.

Arne Slot’s side needs to sign a replacement for the departing Mohamed Salah, with RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande among the potential targets for the club.

In addition, Liverpool are expected to strengthen at the back, this despite the impending addition of Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes.

Liverpool and Konate 'close' to agreement

However, in better news for the Merseyside outfit, Ibrahima Konate is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal at Anfield.

The French centre-back’s previous contract was set to expire later this year, and he had attracted interest from a number of European heavyweight sides, including Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

Konate has since confirmed that both player and club are “close” to an agreement, stating after Sunday’s 2-1 win at Everton: “My future? There are many things people have said but for a long time we have spoken with the club and we are close to an agreement.

“I think everyone wished for that for as long as possible but we are in a good way. There is a big chance I’m here next season. This is what I always wanted.”

Arne Slot's side set for Champions League return

Liverpool strengthened their grip on fifth place with a late victory at rivals Everton in the first Merseyside Derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium over the weekend.

The win leaves the Reds seven points clear of sixth place ahead of the welcome of Crystal Palace on Saturday, with a top-five finish enough to secure a Champions League spot next season.
