Casemiro has moved to play down speculation he may U-turn on his decision to leave Manchester United this summer.
The Brazilian will bring a four-year spell at Old Trafford to a close when his contract expires at the end of the season having excelled following his 2022 arrival from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Casemiro is enjoying arguably his best season in a United shirt and his upturn in form has led to speculation that the club may instead look to extend his stay in Manchester.
United do have the option to trigger a clause to add another 12 months to his current contract.
'No chance' of Casemiro remaining at United
However, in an interview with ESPN Brasil, the 34-year-old insists there’s “no chance” of remaining at the Premier League side beyond the summer.
“I don’t think there’s a chance, there’s no chance [of staying another year],” Casemiro said.
“It’s leaving through the front door. It’s been four beautiful, wonderful years, and I’m eternally grateful not only to the club but to the fans.
“I think if there’s one thing I’ll cherish most from these four years here, it’s having the fans with me. But no, I think it’s over. The cycle has ended here.”
Brazilian keen on 'new chapter'
A MLS move is likely for Casemiro with the tough-tackling midfielder keen on a new challenge as he continued: “I’m moving on to a new chapter in my career.
“I still have to decide where I’m going. But I think I have to leave on a high note, I have to leave on top.
“I will be a lifelong United supporter here in England and I can only thank all the fans for their affection.”
United confirmed their place in next season’s Champions League with a 3-2 win over rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The aim for Michael Carrick’s side is to finish as high as possible and they see out of the campaign with games against Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and Brighton.
