Arsenal are considering a €45m move for “unsellable” Bayer Leverkusen star Malik Tillman, according to German publication FussballDaten.
The Gunners are looking to inject creativity and dynamism to their midfield with the USMNT international identified as the ideal target.
Tillman has scored six times in the Bundesliga this season, and bagged twice in the Champions League.
Arsenal keeping tabs on Tillman
Tillman couldn’t inspire Bayer to victory over the Gunners in their last-16 Champions League clash, but the 23-year-old evidently caught the eye of the north London side.
And while the German giants are keen to retain Tillman’s services, it’s believed that an offer of €45m would be enough to convince Bayer to cash in on one of their prized assets.
Arsenal, though, would face competition from Aston Villa in any potential race to land the US star.
Villa and Liverpool monitoring Bayer star
Villa are bracing themselves for Morgan Rogers’ exit, the England international wanted by Chelsea and Liverpool.
Rogers only penned a new Villa deal last summer, however, the Villans may be forced into cashing in on one of their star men.
The Reds have also been credited with an interest in Tillman as an alternative to Rogers should they fail to land one of their main attacking targets.
Bayer will be hoping that Tillman can impress at this summer’s World Cup, with the creative star expected to make the Stars and Stripes selection in the showpiece event.
The one-time Bundesliga champions would, therefore, be able to command a higher fee for the former Bayern Munich and PSV star should he shine in North America later this year,
Leverkusen looking to end season strongly
Bayer have endured an indifferent campaign and currently find themselves in sixth in Germany’s top tier following their entertaining 6-3 win over Wolfsburg following the international break.
The victory extended their unbeaten run to six matches, however they have now won only two of their last seven league fixtures.
