The agent of Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane has confirmed he is in contact with Arsenal after it was reported the Gunners were keen on his client.
Kofane's breakthrough season in the Bundesliga, after joining from La Liga 2 side Albacete Balompie, has seen him net seven goals alongside eight assists in all competitions.
That's led to reported interest in the 19-year-old from Arsenal, a number of unnamed Premier League sides, and even Real Madrid.
The potential of a switch to the Emirates has been given fuel as Kofane's agent, Eric Depolo, told Daily Talking Arsenal that he is in contact with the Gunners.
He said: “Yes, Arsenal’s interest is genuine. Mikel Arteta likes him very much. There is contact between me and Arsenal. But their focus right now is on winning the league. After that, everything will start to move.
“He is a €100 million player. With Kofane, Arsenal will have a top striker for the next 10 years.”
Previous reports have suggested Kofane will command a €60-70million (£52.3-61m) price tag.
Chelsea on list of big clubs after Kofane
Some of the other clubs who want to sign Kofane, in the Premier League and on the European continent, have been named by insider Ekrem Konur.
He wrote on X: 'Top clubs chasing Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane. 'FC Bayern, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton, Brentford & Barcelona monitoring. 'Leverkusen asking: €60-70M.'
Arsenal are likely to be the biggest draw of any of the aforementioned sides for Kofane, especially as they look on course to scoop the Premier League title, but Chelsea have a way of convincing players to choose them over better placed clubs.
Who, if any of the aforementioned sides, ends up signing Kofane remains to be seen.
