  • Lincoln could extend their lead at the summit to seven points with a win at home to Stockport in one of Saturday’s early kick-offs.

  • Northampton play their first game since sacking Kevin Nolan when Burton visit the Sixfields Stadium.

  • Plymouth are targeting a sixth win in seven League One fixtures when they travel to take on Reading.

There is a full 12-game programme to enjoy from League One on Saturday, 14th March, as the battle for points and places at both ends of the table begins to intensify.

Red-hot league leaders Lincoln City take on Stockport in one of the day’s two 12:30 pm fixtures, before another ten matches follow in the traditional 3 pm slot, including Exeter’s clash with wilting title challengers Cardiff.

Below, we’ve listed predictions for all 12 League Two fixtures on March 14th, starting with that double dose of lunchtime contests.

Lincoln vs Stockport County (Saturday, 12:30 pm)

Lincoln continue to play like potential League One champions and their 1-0 win at Exeter on Tuesday evening was more comfortable than the narrow final scoreline suggests. Unbeaten in a huge 19 games now, City should be in the driving seat again against a Stockport side that has lost three successive away games in the third tier.

Score prediction: Lincoln 3-1 Stockport County

Rotherham vs Bolton (Saturday, 12:30 pm)

Rotherham were a little unfortunate to finish last weekend’s Yorkshire Derby against Huddersfield with nothing, having had more than twice as many attempts as their hosts (13-6), however, that doesn’t mean the Millers can upset Bolton. Wanderers, who are unbeaten in 11 League One assignments, haven’t won a game at Rotherham since 1966, though this looks like an opportunity to rewrite the record books.

Score prediction: Rotherham 1-2 Bolton

Doncaster vs Blackpool (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

A second-half Brandon Hanlan strike earned Doncaster a share of the spoils against Luton in midweek, though Rovers might have won had visiting keeper Josh Keeley not been in such top form. A repeat performance on Saturday could yield a better result against a Blackpool outfit that has failed to win six away matches in a row.

Score prediction: Doncaster 2-1 Blackpool

Exeter vs Cardiff (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Cardiff dropped points for the third time in four games when they were held at Barnsley (1-1) in midweek, and with League One leaders Lincoln threatening to pull clear, the title-chasing Bluebirds simply must win at Exeter. The Grecians are winless in ten attempts and lost to Lincoln (0-1) on Tuesday. They could suffer a similar defeat here.

Score prediction: Exeter 0-1 Cardiff

Leyton Orient vs Peterborough (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

A brace from Dom Ballard helped Leyton Orient to a comeback win at playoff hopefuls Stevenage on Tuesday, and buoyed by that display, the O’s could push for another victory on Saturday. Peterborough have lost two and drawn one of their last three away games and could come unstuck on the road again.

Score prediction: Leyton Orient 2-1 Peterborough

Mansfield vs Barnsley (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Mansfield finally snapped a nine-game winless run with a timely and richly deserved 1-0 triumph over Reading midweek. Town stay at the One Call Stadium on Saturday, though they might find it tougher to harness home advantage against Barnsley. The Tykes held Cardiff (1-1) on Tuesday and have lost just three of their last ten League One matches overall. The visitors could be worth a point here.

Score prediction: Mansfield 1-1 Barnsley

Northampton vs Burton (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Second-from-bottom Northampton lost 1-0 to AFC Wimbledon in midweek and promptly sacked manager Kevin Nolan shortly after. Colin Calderwood steps in to take temporary charge on Saturday, when the Cobblers take on relegation rivals Burton. Visiting Albion haven’t won an away assignment since November, and a Northampton side playing with renewed energy following their managerial switch could prevail at Burton’s expense.

Score prediction: Northampton 1-0 Burton

Port Vale vs Huddersfield (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Sunderland’s FA Cup conquerors, Port Vale, are unbeaten in five games in all competitions and with their confidence on the up, they will fancy their chances of upsetting playoff hopefuls Huddersfield. Visiting Town have lost five of their last six away games in League One and they failed to score in the last three of those. Port Vale are the value bet here.

Score prediction: Port Vale 1-0 Huddersfield

Reading vs Plymouth Argyle (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Plymouth continued their late-season surge in midweek when they cantered to an impressive 3-0 win at Wigan. That was Argyle’s fifth win in six games, a run that has pushed them to within striking distance of sixth spot. Reading meanwhile, have lost only once in seven matches and they haven’t been turned over at home since early December. A draw might suit both parties in this one.

Score prediction: Reading 2-2 Plymouth Argyle

Stevenage Borough vs AFC Wimbledon (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Stevenage’s playoff pursuit hit an unexpected bump in midweek when they were edged out at home by Leyton Orient (1-2), though Borough won four successive games on their own patch before that and could get back to business at the Lamex Stadium on Saturday. AFC Wimbledon have failed to win seven of their last nine away assignments in League One, and they could toil on their travels again.

Score prediction: Stevenage Borough 2-1 AFC Wimbledon

Wigan vs Bradford City (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

New Wigan boss Gary Caldwell suffered his biggest defeat since returning to the club when the Latics lost 3-0 at home to a rampant Plymouth on Tuesday, however, they have a chance to rebound on Saturday. Visiting Bradford have been dreadful on the road since Christmas, losing seven of their last eight away games in League One, and their travel sickness could hamper them again in Greater Manchester.

Score prediction: Wigan 1-0 Bradford City

Wycombe vs Luton (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

A six-game winless slump has taken the wind out of Luton’s playoff push, and more disappointment awaits the Hatters at Adams Park. Wycombe have claimed a perfect 12 points from their last four outings at that venue, netting 12 times along the way and Michael Duff’s troops can enjoy some home comforts again on Saturday.

Score prediction: Wycombe 2-0 Luton
