Pre-tournament favourites for many, Spain could not break down the resistance of Cape Verde in their opening game, ensuring Luis de la Fuente's side are under the microscope now.

De la Fuente's side have bagged just four in four games, with three of those coming against Peru, and just one from games against Egypt, Iraq and Cape Verde.
A landslide wins seems improbable and a better angle could be achieved in having Spain to force at least nine corners.
They took 11 against Cape Verde, while Saudi Arabia defended 14 in the draw with Uruguay. In the 2022 edition, the Saudis faced 20 corners in three games and with Spain sure to dominate the ball, a high corner count seems much more likely than a goal glut.

Uruguay vs Cape Verde (Sunday, 11pm)
Cape Verde made the headlines in their World Cup bow as they took a most unlikely point off Spain. They did so despite ceding 74 per cent possession and facing 27 shots at goal.
It was an almighty effort and this game in Miami might prove tough for them to back it up.
Uruguay also had 27 shots against Saudi Arabia, with 10 on target. They had to come from behind but it could have been different had Federico Vinas not fired at the goalkeeper from close range in the early minutes.
Goals have been hard to come by for Marcelo Bielsa's side, with just six in eight games since September 2025.
If they are allowed to dominate possession as Spain were, there is value in taking the South American side to put their noses in front before half-time and win, as they did in two of their final three CONMEBOL qualifiers – keeping clean sheets in all three games.
