Team news
There appears to be no injury worries for Belgium boss Rudi Garcia, whose biggest decision will be whether or not to start talisman Romelu Lukaku.
The Napoli striker has made impacts when coming off the bench in both the Egypt and New Zealand games, but he failed to impress in the goalless draw with Iran when starting.
As for Senegal, their biggest concern remains the injury of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. The former Chelsea player sustained an issue to his left knee in their defeat to Norway and he missed their convincing victory over Iraq. He could again be replaced by Mory Diaw.
The stats
Senegal’s record against European nations is grim reading, having lost each of the past four meetings, including a 3-0 defeat to England at the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
Both sides scored five goals apiece in their respective final group stage matches, although Belgium only managed to score one other in their remaining fixtures, while Senegal netted three times.

Prediction
Given the fact that both sides have scored a combined 14 goals in this summer’s World Cup, there is every chance this could be a goal fest, especially as they have each shown weaknesses in defence too.
Belgium might have finished top of their group, but they only managed five points from their opening three games and they have not yet hit the heights they should be with the talent in their squad.
Kevin De Bruyne continues to pull the strings for his side, but he needs others around him to step up if they are to progress into the latter stages of the competition.
Senegal also have big players to rely on in the shape of Sadio Mane and Ismaila Sarr, but their defence has been shaky at times.
However, they will be full of confidence after their 5-0 win over Iraq saw them progress out of a tough group featuring France and Norway.
This is one of the ties of the last 32, and it could really go either way. It would not be a massive surprise to see this one go to extra-time, or even penalties, for the outcome to be decided.
