Luis de la Fuente's Spain are the reigning European champions and they are one of the favourites to go all the way this summer

There are four World Cup fixtures in Groups G and H on Monday, providing action from 5pm BST through to around 4am.

Trophy hopefuls Spain kick off their campaign against Cape Verde before an appealing match-up between Belgium and Egypt. Uruguay are the only South American side in action as they take on Saudi Arabia, while the day's final fixture is between Iran and New Zealand.

Here are the best bets for the fifth day of action, when all four games will be taking place in the United States.

Recommended bets:

Spain vs Cape Verde (Monday, 5pm)

European champions Spain should be looking to create a good impression in their opening contest against World Cup newcomers Cape Verde in Atlanta as Group H gets started.

The 2010 winners have not got past the round of 16 in three subsequent attempts but they sauntered through qualifying, dropping points only in their final match against Turkey after winning their first five games without conceding.

Cape Verde are capable of putting up a spirited showing but their best chance of points will come in their last group game against Saudi Arabia and, like most sides in the tournament, they could find Spain's slick midfield passing too hot to handle.

The favourites are worth backing on the handicap to win by at least three goals having won their qualifiers by margins of three, six, two, four and four goals.

Back Spain -2.5 on handicap @ 3/4 with LiveScore Bet

Score prediction: Spain 3-0 Cape Verde

Belgium vs Egypt (Monday, 8pm)

Belgium are the top seeds in Group G but they get their toughest fixture first as they go up against Egypt and the African side are worth backing to take at least a point from the attractive match-up in Seattle.

The Red Devils' golden generation finished third in the 2018 World Cup in Russia but they went out at the group stage in Qatar four years ago and while they have been in good form and are unbeaten in 13 games, they face a tough team in their opener.

Egypt lost all three of their group games at the 2018 finals but their only defeats in their last 12 matches have been to Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations and to Brazil in their final warm-up match, when they turned in a solid performance in a 2-1 defeat in Cleveland.

The Pharaohs have plenty of goals in their side with Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush and Trezeguet in their ranks and they are fancied to breach a Belgian defence who conceded five goals in their two qualifying wins against Wales.

Back Egypt or draw double chance @ 13/10 with LiveScore Bet

Score prediction: Belgium 1-1 Egypt

Saudi Arabia vs Uruguay (Monday, 11pm)

Uruguay are expected to qualify from Group H along with Spain and they should make no mistake in their opening game against Saudi Arabia.

While Uruguay have lost stalwarts Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani, they still have talented players in Darwin Nunez and Rodrigo Bentancur, with star man Federico Valverde of Real Madrid providing the ammunition.

The Saudis were fortunate to make the finals after winning only three of their 10 matches in the final stage of qualifying and finishing well behind Japan and Australia. They scored just seven goals in that group and backing Uruguay to win to nil appeals.

Back Uruguay to win to nil @ 21/20 with LiveScore Bet

Score prediction: Saudi Arabia 0-2 Uruguay

Iran vs New Zealand (Tuesday, 2am)

Iran against New Zealand in the early hours of the morning is a real test of any World Cup fan's commitment, especially as both teams rely on solid defences to get results.

Iran are 64 places above the Kiwis in the world rankings, though, and star man Mehdi Taremi of Olympiacos should pose major problems for the All Whites' defence.

New Zealand put up a dogged effort in their recent warm-up match against England, losing only 1-0 but being outshot 18-2. Iran won both their recent outings against Gambia and Mali and look the right favourites to win this contest.

Back Iran to beat New Zealand @ 3/4 with LiveScore Bet

Score prediction: Iran 1-0 New Zealand
