Bottom three clubs, Wolfsburg, Heidenheim and St. Pauli, are locked on 26 points each ahead of the final day of the campaign.
Only one of Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen or Hoffenheim can secure Champions League qualification through a fourth-place finish.
Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt and Augsburg are competing for seventh place and with it, Conference League football next season.
The 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign’s final round of fixtures will be contested on Saturday, 16th May and while Bayern Munich have already been crowned champions, there is still plenty to sort out elsewhere on the last day of the season.
Stuttgart, Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen are involved in a three-way tussle for the final Champions League qualification place, with the two teams that miss out there in line for Europa League football next term.
Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt and Augsburg will battle it out for a single Conference League qualification berth, while two from Heidenheim, Wolfsburg and St. Pauli will be relegated by close of business on what should be a dramatic afternoon in Germany.
For the final time this season, we have previews, predictions and Bundesliga betting tips below for all nine games from game week 34 of the campaign.
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Hoffenheim (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
Gladbach enjoyed long periods of sterile possession in last weekend’s 3-1 loss at Augsburg, though they looked alarmingly vulnerable on turnovers, conceding ten shots on target and six big chances in their defeat. With their survival already secured, Die Fohlen have been batting away questions about their motivation ahead of Saturday’s season finale, while head coach Eugen Polanski could use the occasion to give some fringe players and youngsters minutes on the pitch.
Hoffenheim meanwhile, are still chasing a top-four finish, though they need Stuttgart to drop points at Frankfurt to steal Champions League qualification at the death. Hoffenheim struggled to break down ten-man Werder Bremen last time out, but still managed to grind out a crucial 1-0 victory. Christian Ilzer’s side are usually more dangerous when they have more space to exploit, and Hoffenheim could improve in the final third while breaking against a possession-hungry Gladbach outfit. It makes sense to side with the more motivated visitors here.
Score prediction: Borussia Monchengladbach 1-2 Hoffenheim
Bayer Leverkusen vs Hamburg (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
Bayer Leverkusen need both Stuttgart and Hoffenheim to lose their final fixtures to dart in ahead of their top-four rivals on Saturday, though they also need to hold up their end of the bargain too, by beating Hamburg. Die Werkself took an early lead in last week’s skirmish with Stuttgart but were thoroughly dominated thereafter in a 3-1 loss, conceding 20 shots to the six they registered themselves. Still, a home test against Hamburg look like an easier one for Leverkusen to pass.
Hamburg have toiled on the road for most of the campaign and only St. Pauli (12) have scored fewer away goals than Die Rothosen (14) since August. The last time Merlin Polzin’s side travelled to take on a top-four challenger in April, they were swatted aside by Stuttgart (4-0). In fact, Hamburg have conceded at least three times in three of their last four away assignments overall. They could suffer in similar style against a Leverkusen outfit in desperate need of maximum points.
Score prediction: Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 Hamburg
Bayern Munich vs FC Koln (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
Bayern’s players looked fatigued in last weekend’s narrow 1-0 win at Wolfsburg and but for the reflexes of stand-in keeper Jonas Urbig, they might have lost against the relegation candidates. Vincent Kompany gave his tired troops a few days off in midweek however, so Bayern’s stars should be rested and raring to go again ahead of being presented with the Meisterschale after their final fixture against Koln.
The champions won’t want to dampen the celebrations with the wrong result on Saturday, so expect Bayern to go full throttle for goals. Bayern are unbeaten in 22 previous meetings with Koln since a shock 3-2 defeat in Cologne back in February 2011. Kompany’s relentless Roten have been averaging 3.93 goals per Bundesliga home game this season, so expect the Bavarians to deliver a rousing and fitting finish to another stellar campaign.
Score prediction: Bayern Munich 4-0 FC Koln
Eintracht Frankfurt vs VfB Stuttgart (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
Saturday’s contest at Deutsche Bank Park is a shootout for continental qualification, with Frankfurt chasing Conference League football through a seventh-place finish and Stuttgart targeting the Champions League. Die Adler’s late-season form has been dwindling under Albert Riera however, and their 3-2 loss at Dortmund last weekend was their third defeat in four fixtures. That regression in results means that Frankfurt will kick-off Saturday’s game as underdogs, despite having home advantage.
Sebastian Hoeneß’s Stuttgart are just one step away from a UCL financial windfall. They came from behind to topple Leverkusen when last seen (3-1) and might have enjoyed a bigger winning margin had they made more of some excellent openings. Only Bayern (114) have scored more goals than Stuttgart (69) this season and Die Schwaben might need to lean into their prowess in the final third to win on Saturday. They’ve conceded at least twice in each of their last six away games, though they have the requisite firepower to outgun Frankfurt.
Score prediction: Eintracht Frankfurt 2-3 VfB Stuttgart
Freiburg vs RB Leipzig (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
Currently in seventh spot, Freiburg are another Conference League contender and their one-point advantage over their rivals puts them in a prime position to qualify. A draw at home to RB Leipzig on Saturday might even do the trick if other results go their way. Freiburg have a Europa League Final to plan for and their priorities have been pointed in that direction for a while. Their domestic form has suffered as a result, with Freiburg failing to win 70% of their last ten Bundesliga matches.
RB Leipzig locked down third place with their 2-1 win over a plucky St. Pauli last weekend, so it will be interesting to see how head coach Ole Werner approaches Saturday’s game in terms of his selection choices. Assan Ouédraogo and Brajan Gruda were handed rare starts last week and with even less riding on Saturday’s result, Werner could shuffle his pack even more. That could give Freiburg the opening they need to triumph against their weakened visitors.
Score prediction: Freiburg 2-1 RB Leipzig
Heidenheim vs Mainz (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
Heidenheim maintained their remarkable late-season upswing last weekend when they won 3-1 at Koln to secure a third victory in their last five games. Those three wins could just have easily been four had the minnows held on for their unlikely upset at Bayern Munich (3-3) the week before. Just weeks ago, Heidenheim had looked dead and buried in the battle for survival, however, they can climb into the relegation playoff position with a final-day flourish against Mainz.
Mainz couldn’t rouse themselves to win their final fixture of the season at the MEWA Arena seven days ago and conceded two late goals in their 3-1 reverse against Union Berlin. Urs Fischer’s side have now lost four of their last six games in all competitions and their players seem to have an eye on the impending summer break. That means Mainz are easier to oppose against a Heidenheim team that will be scrapping for every inch on Saturday.
Score prediction: Heidenheim 1-0 Mainz
St. Pauli vs Wolfsburg (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
For the first time in 63 seasons of the Bundesliga, the bottom three teams are all level on points ahead of the final day of a campaign, and as fate would have it, two of those, St. Pauli and Wolfsburg, meet on Saturday. A draw here could send both teams down if Heidenheim win at home to Mainz, so tension levels at the Millerntor-Stadion could be incredibly high. St. Pauli, who have lost six and drawn three of their last three Bundesliga fixtures, were spirited in defeat at RB Leipzig (2-1) last weekend and they will need to dig even deeper here.
Wolfsburg’s three-game unbeaten surge came to an end against Bayern Munich (1-0) last weekend, though Die Wolfe had the chances to extract one point (or even three) from that contest, having put in a stellar shift against the champions. For all their troubles at home this term, Wolfsburg actually rank as a midtable side for away form this season and they’ve managed to avoid defeat in four of their last six away games on the road. With that away record providing confidence, Wolfsburg could edge it on an afternoon of high drama on Saturday.
Score prediction: St. Pauli 1-2 Wolfsburg
Union Berlin vs Augsburg (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
Marie-Louise Eta finally ended her wait for a first win as Union Berlin last weekend and the Iron Ones broke their duck under their recent hire in fine style, with a punchy 3-1 victory at Mainz. Union had been threatening to produce a result of that kind in recent weeks and buoyed by that showing, they should be a real threat again when they host Augsburg. Union had nine shots on target in that win, their highest output for that metric in any league fixture since August, in a nod to Eta’s good work on the training ground.
Augsburg have their eyes on seventh spot, but need Freiburg to slip up against Leipzig as well as a positive result in the capital to succeed. Having pocketed ten of the last 12 points on offer, Augsburg should look decently-equipped to push for a win here, however, they meet a Union side on the up and eager to maintain their uptick under Eta. The teams could trade blows in a last-day thriller at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in this one.
Score prediction: Union Berlin 2-2 Augsburg
Werder Bremen vs Borussia Dortmund (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
In one of the few last-day dead rubbers, Werder Bremen (13th) who can jump a maximum of two places and Dortmund, who are assured of second place, face off at the Weserstadion. Werder’s defeat at Hoffenheim last weekend was their fourth loss in six games and their 1-0 reverse there might have been heavier had keeper Mio Backhaus not been at his best. The 22-year-old is believed to be on Dortmund’s radar ahead of the summer and he will be eager to audition well on Saturday for his suitors.
Dortmund’s 3-2 win over Frankfurt a week ago was more convincing than the final scoreline suggests. Nico Kovac’s side were particularly potent down the left with Nico Schlotterbeck (goal), Max Beier (two assists) and the emerging Samuele Inacio (goal) all combining well. Dortmund had far too much class for Werder Bremen (3-0) in the clubs’ reverse fixture in January and they are fancied to complete the league double over Die Werderaner on Saturday.
Score prediction: Werder Bremen 1-3 Borussia Dortmund
