Mansfield are aiming to extend their unbeaten streak to nine matches when they host Peterborough in League One.
Wigan play their first game after sacking manager Ryan Lowe when they entertain Reading at the Brick Community Stadium.
In-form Grimsby and Accrington Stanley sides face off in what should be a captivating clash in League Two.
There is a light dusting of fixtures from League’s One and Two to look forward to in midweek, with six games spread across the evenings of Tuesday and Wednesday.
Those six fixtures are split evenly between the two divisions, and we’ve got predictions and forecasted results for each encounter below, starting with the meeting between Mansfield and Peterborough at the One Call Stadium.
Mansfield vs Peterborough – League One (Tuesday, 19:45)
With hattrick hero Kyrell Lisbie central, Peterborough scored six times from six shots on target in a thumping victory over Wigan (6-1) in their last assignment, though sailing might not be as smooth against Mansfield.
Town extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a 0-0 draw against Exeter on Saturday and they have kept clean sheets in each of their last four matches on home soil.
Score prediction: Mansfield 1-0 Peterborough
Stevenage vs Barnsley - League One (Tuesday, 19:45)
Stevenage are licking their wounds following back-to-back defeats on the road. One of those losses was suffered at Barnsley (1-3), though Borough could exact some revenge in their rematch against the Tykes here.
Barnsley have failed to win 11 of their last 12 away tests in League One and they shipped 3+ goals in four of the last six of those. Stevenage are unbeaten in five at home meanwhile, and they can turn the tables on their visitors here.
Score prediction: Stevenage 2-1 Barnsley
Wigan vs Reading – League One (Tuesday, 19:45)
Wigan’s harrowing 6-1 loss at Peterborough at the weekend was enough to trigger the sacking of manager Ryan Lowe. Athletic have taken just two points from the last 21 on offer in League One, and even with a change in the dugout, they cannot be backed with any confidence.
Reading lost a five-goal thriller at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, though that was just their second defeat in ten league games and they have a chance to pile on the misery for Wigan at the Brick Community Stadium.
Score prediction: Wigan 1-2 Reading
Crawley vs Cambridge – League Two (Tuesday, 19:45)
Crawley’s three-game unbeaten burst in League Two came to an end on Saturday when they wilted at home to Crewe (0-1). They conceded the crucial goal in the 77th minute there, however, they were very much second best throughout, mustering only nine shots to visiting Crewe’s 16.
Playoff chasing Cambridge came unstuck in surprising fashion at bottom club Harrogate at the weekend, though they had too much class for Crawley in October’s reverse fixture (3-1) and they can bounce back here.
Score prediction: Crawley 1-2 Cambridge
Shrewsbury vs Barrow – League Two (Tuesday, 19:45)
Two of the division’s bottom four face off at the Croud Meadow in a relegation six-pointer that could yield a positive result for Shrewsbury. Salop managed to pocket four points from their last two matches at that venue and they can lean on home advantage again on Tuesday.
Visiting Barrow are on a rotten run and have four on the bounce and seven of their last eight league skirmishes overall. Another defeat here would see them leapfrogged by Shrewsbury. The teams drew 0-0 in October, though Town could have the edge this time.
Score prediction: Shrewsbury 1-0 Barrow
Grimsby vs Accrington – League Two (Wednesday, 19:45)
It was a case of two points dropped for Grimsby when they were held to a 0-0 draw by relegation candidates Newport on Saturday, however, Town are still unbeaten in eight league games, winning five of those, so they remain in good shape.
Accrington (13th) sit just two points behind their hosts following a fine 1-0 win over Salford meanwhile, and Stanley have been bested only once in eight matches in the fourth tier overall. This is a clash between two form teams, so a share of the spoils might suit both.
Score prediction: Grimsby 1-1 Accrington
