It has been a difficult season for Liverpool boss Arne Slot
  • Liverpool have kept one clean sheet in their last 11 matches

  • Brentford have drawn seven of their last 10 games

  • Recommended Bet: Both teams to score

Liverpool are yet to secure Champions League football for next season as they welcome European-chasing Brentford to Anfield for Premier League action on Sunday.

The Reds are three points clear of sixth-placed Bournemouth, who are six goals worse off than the Merseysiders, so it would take a couple of big results for Arne Slot’s side to drop out of the top five.

As for the Bees, they are level on points with Chelsea in eighth and just a point behind seventh-placed Brighton, leaving it all to play for in the battle for Europa League and Conference League spots.

Team news

Conor Bradley and Alisson are long-term absentees for Liverpool, who may also be without Jeremie Frimpong and Alexander Isak after the duo missed the 4-2 defeat against Aston Villa.

Fabio Carvalho remains on the sidelines for Brentford, who are also without the services of Antoni Milambo and Rico Henry.

The stats

Liverpool have won just two of their last 11 matches.

Liverpool have drawn just one of their last 11 fixtures.

Brentford have lost just five times this year.

Prediction

Slot guided Liverpool to a 20th league title last season, but their fortunes have subsequently slumped and a likely finishing position of fifth must be considered a failure given the high expectations at the club.

However, the Reds are unlikely to lose to a Brentford side who have not won at Anfield since 1937 and have lost all four matches at the ground since their promotion to the Premier League in 2021.

But Bees boss Keith Andrews has worked wonders since taking the helm at the Gtech Community Stadium, losing just 14 of his 44 games in charge.

With 54 goals scored in the top flight, attack has not been a concern for Brentford, although they have looked shaky at the back with 51 conceded.

It is a similar story for Liverpool, who have netted 63 times and seen their goal breached on 52 occasions, so goals are expected in what should be a lively end-of-season contest.
