  • Brentford have 13 points after 10 games and sit 12th in the table

  • Newcastle are just one place and one point behind the Bees

Both Brentford and Newcastle were defeated in the capital last weekend and each will be keen to get back on track in the Premier League when they do battle at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday.

The Magpies were woeful in last Sunday's 3-1 defeat at West Ham, but have already done their bouncing back, beating Athletic Bilbao 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

However, that win came at St James' Park and their away form remains a real concern, meaning the Bees could very well upset the odds this weekend.

Team news

Brentford will definitely be without midfielders Antoni Milambo and Josh Dasilva, while Benjamin Arthur will also be assessed after missing the Bees' last two games.

It was a case of one-in-one-out for Newcastle against Bilbao, as Lewis Hall made his retur, but Anthony Gordon was forced off and is set to sit out this weekend.

Gordon and William Osula will be assessed ahead of the trip to London, while Tino Livramento, Harrison Ashby and former Brentford star Yoane Wissa, who is still yet to make his Magpies debut, all miss out.

The stats

Brentford have lost just two of their last 10 home matches and the Bees have scored 10 goals while winning three of their last four games.

Newcastle have won six of their last eight games, however, they are without a win in eight Premier League away matches.

The Magpies have scored just two goals in their five away league games this term.

Ahead of this weekend, only Erling Haaland (13) had scored more Premier League goals than Brentford’s Igor Thiago (6) this season.

Prediction

Despite losing their influential manager Thomas Frank, their two best players, Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo, and captain Christian Norgaard, Brentford have made a strong start to the season, starting the weekend six points clear of the relegation zone.

Last Saturday's 2-0 loss at London rivals Crystal Palace was a slight hiccup, but Keith Andrews' side will be far more comfortable back at the Gtech, where they beat Premier League champions Liverpool 3-2 in their last home match.

And their home advantage will be even more prevalent given they are facing a travel-sick Newcastle.

Eddie Howe's men are still searching for a first away league win of the season and a third straight road defeat could be on the cards.

The Magpies were outrun, outplayed and outscored by West Ham last Sunday and a Bees side who are willing to run through a brick wall for Andrews should put in a similar performance.
