Manchester City are weighing up a move for Real Madrid’s Trent Alexander-Arnold as they look to ease their right-back issues, reports TEAMtalk.

Alexander-Arnold departed Liverpool for Los Blancos last summer, much to the disappointment of Reds fans.

However, the England international has struggled for game time in Madrid this season, while injuries haven’t aided his cause.

The 27-year-old has been restricted to just five league starts for Los Blancos, and missed the 2-0 win at Villarreal over the weekend due to injury.

City keeping tabs on Trent

City are now believed to be monitoring Alexander-Arnold’s situation in Spain with a view to a potential move in the summer.

The Cityzens, who have signed Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi in the January window, are expected to be in the market for a new right-back at the end of the season.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been linked with a move for Brentford’s Michael Kayode and Newcastle regular Tino Livramento as City consider their right-back options.

And City are now exploring the possibility of bringing the former Reds right-back back to England.

Right-back determined to succeed in Spain

A move for Alexander-Arnold would be expensive for City, the defender having penned a five-year deal at the Bernabeu last summer.

Additionally, Alexander-Arnold is determined to succeed in Spain having struggled in the opening months of his time in Madrid.

Los Blancos will hope to follow up Saturday’s 2-0 win over Villarreal with victory over Benfica in the Champions League in midweek.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s side sit inside the top eight heading into the final round of league phase games, and are two points clear of the playoff places.
