Ferran Torres to Liverpool talked down as PSG best placed to sign World Cup hero

The prospect of Liverpool landing World Cup hero Ferran Torres has been talked down by insider Gianluca Di Marzio, who believes Paris Saint-Germain are the only club likely to land him.
Torres made up for criticism for his role in Spain's World Cup campaign by scoring the goal that won them the tournament. The Barcelona forward found himself free in the box and lashed a left-footed strike high in the net during extra time to confirm a 1-0 victory.
He was already being linked with PSG prior to scoring the most important goal of his career, but there have since been suggestions that Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has asked for Torres.
However, insider Di Marzio does not think the deal has legs.
He said: “I don’t think Liverpool can make an offer for Ferran Torres.
“I think only Paris Saint-Germain is a possibility, because if he decides not to extend his contract with Barcelona, it’s because Luis Enrique wants him at Paris Saint-Germain, and the club is seen by both him and his advisors as the perfect career move. I believe only Paris Saint-Germain is in the running for him.”

Reports elsewhere have suggested that PSG boss Luis Enrique has spoke to Torres and outlined his thoughts in his plans at the club.
Torres is believed to have agreed to personal terms as a result, with the French giants then opening talks with Barcelona over the move.
There is still a chance that Barca retains the 26-year-old, as they're looking to tie him down to a new deal following the conclusion of the World Cup.
However, it has been stated by some outlets that Torres does not feel the same desire from Barcelona to keep him than he does from PSG to sign him.
The Spanish forward therefore seems to be leaning towards a switch to a new country, though that move will need the Champions League holders to come to an agreement with Barcelona first.
PSG have a number of attacking stars in their ranks, with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola, so the attack could get crowded if all remain.
At Barca, Robert Lewandowski has left, so Torres' role could be even greater in the coming season were he to stay.
