Morgan Rogers has ended speculation surrounding his future by putting pen to paper on a new Aston Villa contract.
Rogers was tentatively linked with a move away from Villa Park over the summer as the Villans weighed up a high-profile sale in order to remain within the Premier League’s PSR regulations.
London pair Chelsea and Tottenham were credited with an interest, while Liverpool were also believed to be monitoring the forward’s situation in the Midlands.
However, the 23-year-old has since extended his stay at the club, ending any hopes of a possible January move.
New deal runs until 2031
“Aston Villa is delighted to announce that Morgan Rogers has signed a new contract with the club,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
“The England international has agreed a deal that will keep him at Villa until 2031.
“Rogers signed for the club in February 2024 from Middlesbrough and has become a key member of Unai Emery's side, earning a debut for the Three Lions in November 2024.
“His stellar performances last term saw his peers vote him PFA Young Player of the Season.”
'I'm really happy. It's home'
On the decision to extend his stay at the club, Rogers said: “I’m so happy. The faith from the people at the club is a really nice feeling, and I couldn’t wait to sign. I’m really happy.
“It’s home. Being from the area makes it that bit sweeter, but the manager, the players, the staff, everyone here is so warm and welcoming every day.
“I’m excited to come in and train, work hard and give my all every day. I really enjoy it. The most important thing for me is enjoying my football and being able to express myself. There’s no reason why I wouldn’t want to stay here.”
Rogers, who was called up to the England national team for upcoming games against Serbia and Albania, played 86 minutes of Villa’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Sunday.
Goals from Emiliano Buendia, Amadou Onana, Ross Barkley and Donyell Malen wrapped up a huge win for Unai Emery’s side, who head into the international break in sixth having won five of their last six games.
