Aston Villa agree Alejandro Garnacho deal and retain full profit from Morgan Rogers sale

Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign Alejandro Garnacho, and the conditions mean they'll retain full profit from the sale of Morgan Rogers, reports The Athletic.

Villa have already replaced Rogers in the side with the signing of Johan Manzambi. However, they've been looking for a new winger to round out their attack.

Garnacho was believed to be favouring a move elsewhere, but Unai Emery's push has seen him head to Villa Park.

Indeed, multiple sources have confirmed the deal for the Chelsea winger, on an initial loan with a conditional obligation based on the amount of appearances he makes.

Once the deal has been triggered, Garnacho will pen a deal with Villa for four years.

It is suggested that Villa will part with £43million once the conditions of the deal are met.

Crucially for the Villans, the deal is separate to that of Rogers, who has just headed in the opposite direction, with Chelsea paying £117million for his transfer.

Villa to keep Rogers profit

Villa regularly butt up against the limit of financial regulations and it's in their best interests to retain all the profit from the Rogers deal.

The issue with doing a deal with Chelsea is that UEFA would see that as a 'player exchange transaction' should Garnacho's move have been a permanent one within 45 days of Rogers leaving.

With less than 45 days left in the summer transfer window, Villa had no way to work around that for a permanent deal.

But structuring the deal as it is, on loan with a conditional buy obligation, means the deal will be triggered outside of that 45-day window, and the entire profit from the Rogers deal will be retained.

There is also a desire from UEFA to stop sides finding loopholes for these deals, and they therefore recognise a deal as permanent if "a condition is considered to be virtually certain."

It seems in this case, the conditions of the Garnacho deal do not seem absolute in their eyes, though for both Villa and Chelsea, he's expected to play the required amount of games for the transfer to become permanent.

What the conditions of the deal are are currently unclear, but both sides seem happy to have agreed to the transfer.
