Premier League pair Arsenal and Liverpool have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Bradley Barcola with Paris Saint-Germain adamant that the France winger won’t be sold this summer, according to the Athletic’s David Ornstein.

Barcola has been subject to intense speculation surrounding his future at the Parc des Princes in recent months.

The 23-year-old, who started 21 of 24 league matches last season, was key as PSG reached a second successive Champions League final.

PSG looking to strengthen attack

However, the young winger was used from the bench in the semi-final double-header against Bayern Munich and the final penalty shootout win over Arsenal.

Additionally, PSG’s ongoing pursuit of RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast wideman Yan Diomande, combined with the push to sign Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, suggests that Barcola’s future in Paris is bleak.

PSG, though, are not willing to let Barcola depart in the off-season, even with his reluctance to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Barcola’s current PSG contract expires in 2028.

The French giants are under no pressure to sell the former Lyon man, with Goncalo Ramos, who is set for a move to AC Milan, Lee Kang-in and Randal Kolo Muani all available for transfer to help free up funds.

Arsenal and Liverpool suffer transfer blow

The decision comes as a blow to both Arsenal and Liverpool, with the Premier league duo in the market for a new winger.

The Gunners are keen to strengthen their left flank, with both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard sharing the left-winger burden last season.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are looking to bring in at least one more wide forward following Mohamed Salah’s exit and the signing of Victor Munoz.

Diomande was a prime target for Andoni Iraola’s side, yet the 19-year-old’s preference is to move to PSG, which has thrown a spanner in the works for the Merseyside powerhouse.

Barcola on World Cup duty with France

Barcola is currently with the France national team for the 2026 World Cup, though has started just one of three matches in North America this summer, scoring one and assisting another.

The young forward is unlikely to start France’s round-of-32 meeting with Sweden on Tuesday night as Les Bleus look to win the World Cup for the third time.

Victory over Sweden will set up a last-16 showdown with Paraguay after the South American side defeated Germany on penalties.
