  • Struggling Northampton will be aiming to halt a run of four straight defeats in League One when they travel to South Yorkshire to take on Barnsley.

  • Two of the League One’s bottom four clubs face off in a relegation six-pointer between Burton and Doncaster at the Pirelli Stadium.

  • Notts County are favourites to secure a fifth win on the spin in League Two when they host Gillingham at Meadow Lane.

There is a shortened midweek fixture programme from England’s League One and Two between Tuesday and Thursday evening, following the postponement of the waterlogged Port Vale’s clash with AFC Wimbledon.

There are still seven matches on the card however, giving us ample room to zero in on some betting tips for England’s third and fourth tiers. We begin our search for winners at Oakwell for the tussle between Barnsley and Northampton Town.

Barnsley vs Northampton – League One (Tuesday, 19:45)

Barnsley rebounded from last week’s 4-0 drubbing at Cardiff in the perfect manner on Saturday when they ousted Stevenage 3-1 at Oakwell and they can harness home advantage again to see off Northampton.

Visiting Town are the division’s second-lowest scorers (24 goals) and they drew another blank in their 2-0 loss at home to Reading at the weekend. That was their fourth successive defeat and another could follow here.

Score prediction: Barnsley 2-0 Northampton

Burton Albion vs Doncaster - League One (Tuesday, 19:45)

Burton battled back to earn a late point against League One leaders Cardiff on Saturday (2-2) and Albion have now lost only once in five assignments on home soil.

Poor travellers Doncaster lost for the ninth time in 14 away games when they slipped to defeat at Bradford (0-1) last time out. Rovers failed to score in 50% of those matches and they might toil in the final third again in Tuesday’s six-pointer.

Score prediction: Burton Albion 1-0 Doncaster

Barnet vs Crewe – League Two (Wednesday, 19:45)

Barnet are in solid form and should have really recorded a fifth win in six League Two fixtures when they registered 18 attempts in their 0-0 draw at Shrewsbury on Saturday.

Dean Brennan’s playoff hopefuls have won three times in a row at the Hive Stadium however, and another victory there could be in the offing against a Crewe side that was turned over in three of their last four away fixtures.

Score prediction: Barnet 1-0 Crewe

Bristol Rovers vs Walsall – League Two (Wednesday, 19:45)

Helped by a brace on his first start from January loan signing Yusuf Akhamrich, Barnet excelled in a 3-0 win over Newport on Saturday, so they can play with renewed confidence against Walsall.

The Saddlers have drawn each of their last three games and they might have to settle for another share of the spoils against the buoyant Pirates at the Memorial Stadium.

Score prediction: Bristol Rovers 1-1 Walsall

Harrogate vs Swindon – League Two (Wednesday, 19:45)

Rock-bottom Harrogate have lost 15 and drawn four of their last 19 matches in League Two, and their 2-0 loss at Crawley on Saturday reaffirmed their status as heavy favourites for the drop.

A two-goal salvo from the division’s leading scorer, Aaron Drinan, fired Swindon to a much-needed 3-1 win over Barrow at the weekend, and the Robins can soar even higher with a follow-up victory here.

Score prediction: Harrogate 1-2 Swindon

Notts County vs Gillingham – League Two (Wednesday, 19:45)

Notts County dug deep and proved their playoff credentials with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Fleetwood on Saturday. That was their fourth win in a row and they can land a fifth at Gillingham’s expense on Wednesday evening.

Gillingham were three goals down inside half an hour when they hosted leaders Bromley at the weekend and they could struggle against another of the division’s better sides in this one.

Score prediction: Notts County 3-1 Gillingham

Accrington Stanley vs Salford City– League Two (Thursday, 20:01)

Accrington have enjoyed a productive week, plundering seven goals past Newport (4-1) and Cheltenham (3-1) in impressive back-to-back showings, and in-form Stanley should provide a stiff test for Salford.

City’s keeper Matt Young was their Man of the Match against Tranmere (2-0) on Saturday and if they are similarly open at the Crown Ground, Accrington might not let Salford off the hook.

Score prediction: Accrington Stanley 2-2 Salford
