Championship leaders Coventry will be aiming to take another step towards promotion to the Premier League when they visit a Swansea side still harbouring faint hopes of making the play-offs.

The Sky Blues have taken control of the promotion race once again following a recent six-match unbeaten run, although last weekend's home loss to Southampton means the door is still slightly ajar for the chasing pack.

Swansea are eight points off the play-off places following defeat at Welsh rivals Wrexham last time out, but they remain strong on home soil and a victory over the league leaders on Saturday could prove the ideal catalyst for a late assault on the top six.

Team news

Adam Idah could hand Swansea a welcome boost, with the frontman pushing for a return to the matchday squad for the first time since before Christmas following a hamstring injury.

The Swans have no fresh injury concerns, but after defeat to Wrexham last time out, head coach Vitor Matos could hand recalls to the likes of Malick Yalcouye and Liam Cullen.

Coventry lost 16-goal top scorer Haji Wright to a groin injury during the defeat to Southampton, with either Ellis Simms or Brandon Thomas-Asante expected to take his place up front.

Bobby Thomas could return following a recent calf issue, but Jack Rudoni, who has been dealing with a similar setback, is not expected to feature until after the international break.

The stats

No team has picked up more home points in the Championship since the start of December than Swansea, who are unbeaten in their last 10 league matches at the Swansea.com Stadium, winning eight of those games.

The Swans have lost their last two meetings with Coventry having been on an 18-game unbeaten run against the Sky Blues before that.

Coventry had been on a six-match winning run prior to last Saturday's home defeat to Southampton.

Frank Lampard's side have won three on the bounce on their travels having previously gone eight away fixtures without a victory across all competitions.

These two sides boast the two leading scorers in this season's Championship, but while Swansea's Zan Vipotnik (17 goals) is set to feature, Coventry's Wright will miss out due to injury.

Prediction

If Swansea are to have any hope of making the play-offs then they realistically need to win this game, and the good news is they boast an impressive home record since Matos' appointment as head coach in November.

The Portuguese lost his first match in charge at the Swansea.com Stadium to Derby, but since then the Swans have registered eight wins and no defeats from 10 Championship games in front of their own supporters.

The visit of the league leaders will put that eye-catching run to the test, but Coventry are not exactly impenetrable on their travels, losing five times on the road across league and cup since the start of December.

With top scorer Wright and creative force Rudoni missing, the Sky Blues may struggle to find their usual attacking verve, and if that proves to be the case, then Swansea could be primed to capitalise.
