Frank Lampard has Coventry back on track to win the Championship
  • Coventry are three points clear at the top

  • Stoke have the best defensive record in the league, conceding just 31 goals.

  • Only the Sky Blues (68) have scored more goals than Ipswich (54)

There is another full round of Championship fixtures across Tuesday and Wednesday, with the battle at both the top and bottom heating up.

The game of the week takes place on Tuesday, when second-placed Middlesbrough face Leicester, who have dropped into the relegation zone.

Blackburn vs Bristol City (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Blackburn have moved themselves five points clear of the drop zone, after claiming back-to-back wins under new boss Michael O’Neill.

They now face a Bristol City team that have won just one of their last four. The Robins are still just four points from the play-off spots, but have lost on their last two trips to Ewood Park.

Score Prediction: Blackburn 2-1 Bristol City

Hull vs Derby (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Hull need to stop the rot, after failing to win any of their last three league games, including a 3-1 home defeat to QPR on Saturday.

Derby have also hit a sticky patch and are now six points behind the fifth-placed Tigers, but the Rams have won on their last two trips to the MKM Stadium.

Score Prediction: Hull 1-1 Derby

Middlesbrough vs Leicester (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

It is now eight league games without a win for Leicester and having received a points deduction during that run, they have fallen into the bottom three.

After briefly hitting the top, Boro have stuttered with one defeat and one draw in their last two matches to fall down to second, but they have still lost just twice at the Riverside this season.

Score Prediction: Middlesbrough 2-0 Leicester

Swansea vs Preston (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Three points and five places separate Swansea and Preston ahead of Tuesday’s clash, with both teams still harbouring hopes of making the play-offs.

The Swans have won three of their last four, while North End have won just one of their last seven in the Championship.

Score Prediction: Swansea 2-1 Preston

Watford vs Ipswich (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

A 2-0 win over Derby saw Watford end a seven-game winless run and they now face an Ipswich team who are eight points outside the automatic promotion places after defeat to Wrexham.

The Hornets are winless in their last five league meetings with Ipswich – two draws and three defeats – but the Tractorboys have won just two of their last eight on the road.

Score Prediction: Watford 1-1 Ipswich

West Brom vs Charlton (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

West Brom are still without a win in 2026 and the Baggies are now just one point outside the relegation zone, with 13 league games left to play.

Charlton, who beat West Brom 1-0 in November’s reverse fixture, are now six points ahead of their hosts, having won two of their last five league matches.

Score Prediction: West Brom 1-1 Charlton

Wrexham vs Portsmouth (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

A thrilling 5-3 win over Ipswich at the weekend has moved Wrexham into the top six and Phil Parkinson’s men will now face a Portsmouth team who have won just four of their 16 away league games.

The two teams drew 0-0 at Fratton Park earlier in the season, but Wrexham have found their shooting boots in recent weeks and have now scored 18 more goals than Pompey.

Score Prediction: Wrexham 2-0 Portsmouth

Southampton vs QPR (Tuesday, 8pm)

Southampton are now unbeaten in seven in all competitions, but will have been frustrated to draw 1-1 with Charlton on Saturday.

The Saints have lost only three of their 16 home games and have beaten QPR in each of their last five meetings.

Score Prediction: Southampton 3-1 QPR

Millwall vs Birmingham (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Defeat at home to Portsmouth at the weekend put a big dent in Millwall’s automatic promotion bid and they face another stern test on Wednesday.

Birmingham are now just one place and two points outside of the play-offs and go into this clash unbeaten in their last eight Championship fixtures.

Score Prediction: Millwall 1-2 Birmingham

Norwich vs Sheffield Wednesday (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Four wins in their last six matches has propelled Norwich away from the relegation zone, although they did lose at home to Birmingham on Saturday.

Sheffield Wednesday suffered the earliest relegation in EFL history following Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Sheffield United in the Steel City derby and the despondent Owls look set for another defeat.

Score Prediction: Norwich 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield United vs Coventry (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Sheffield United welcome leaders Coventry to Bramall Lane on Wednesday, with the Blades six points outside of the play-off places.

Chris Wilder’s men have won three of their last four but face a Coventry team that look to have steadied the ship and have averaged 2.06 goals per game.

Score Prediction: Sheffield United 2-3 Coventry

Stoke vs Oxford (Wednesday, 8pm)

A change of manager appears to have had little impact on Oxford, who are without a win in their last five league games.

They now head to Staffordshire to take on Stoke, who have the best defensive record in the league and know a win could keep them in touch with the play-off chasers.

Score Prediction: Stoke 2-0 Oxford
