Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain produced one of the great matches in the competition's history as PSG edged a nine-goal thriller last week, the highest-scoring semi-final since 1960.

With the two top-scoring sides in this season's competition, it was no surprise fans were treated to a high-quality attacking spectacle in Paris.

Each should be rested and refeshed after rotating for weekend draws, Bayern 3-3 with Heidenheim and PSG 2-2 against Lorient.

With a place in the final on the line, this tie could still go either way, but all the evidence points towards another goal-laden contest between two worthy European champions.

Team news

Bayern have no new injury concerns and are expected to restore several key players after rotating at the weekend.

Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, Michael Olise and Harry Kane could all come back in, while youngsters Tom Bischof and Lennart Karl could also feature.

PSG are set to be without Achraf Hakimi, who picked up a hamstring injury in the first leg, a potential blow given his importance on the right flank at both ends of the pitch.

Warren Zaire-Emery is expected to shift into the right-back role, with Fabian Ruiz taking over in midfield.

The stats

  • Bayern Munich and PSG have both lost two Champions League games this season

  • Bayern have won every home Champions League game this season and they have lost just one of their last 16 home Bundesliga matches

  • PSG have scored a tournament-high 43 goals in this season's Champions League, with Bayern on 42

  • The German champions have kept just two clean sheets in this season's Champions League

  • Over 2.5 goals has landed in nine of Bayern's last 10 matches in all competitions

  • Fewer than 11 corners have been taken in each of the last six meetings between the sides

  • Bayern have scored four goals in five of their last seven home games

Prediction

After the French side tore Bayern apart with five goals in 58 minutes, the German champions regained a foothold with two late strikes to remain firmly in the tie, trailing 5-4 on aggregate.

The home crowd could prove crucial and, back at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern have won every game in this season's competition, they can be fancied to turn the result around against the defending champions.

Domestically, Bayern have also been formidable, losing just twice at home since the start of the 2024-25 campaign.

Another high-scoring contest looks likely given the attacking quality on both sides, and the first leg showed just how little separates them.

With two of the competition's most potent attacks on display, chances should come regularly and it would be no surprise to see both teams find the net once again.

Bayern can be backed to edge it over 90 minutes, but PSG's firepower should ensure they play their part in another open encounter.

A narrow winning margin looks the most likely outcome and even if Bayern are fancied to come out on top on the night, the tie could very much head beyond the 90 minutes.
