Bayer Leverkusen host European champions Paris Saint-Germain at the BayArena on Tuesday night still looking for their first win in the Champions League this season having been held by Copenhagen and PSV Eindhoven.

PSG, meanwhile, boast a 100% record after earning an impressive away victory over Barcelona last time out.

However, Luis Enrique’s side have drawn two straight matches in Ligue 1 so will be aiming to get back to winning ways.

Team news

Bayer Leverkusen are dealing with a number of injuries right now with several players expected to be sidelined for the visit of PSG.

Nathan Tella and Jarell Quansah have knee issues, Exequiel Palacios is out with a groin strain and Patrick Schick remains a major doubt with a thigh problem.

Axel Tape-Kobrissa is dealing with a sore hamstring while Martin Terrier is absent after rupturing his Achilles tendon.

Ousmane Dembele is nearing a PSG return after recovering from a hamstring strain but this game will come too soon for the Ballon d'Or winner. Joao Neves is also out with a similar injury.

Fabian Ruiz is dealing with a hip complaint which means the Spaniard is a doubt while Marquinhos has a thigh problem.

The stats

Bayer Leverkusen and PSG have faced each other twice before in European competition, with the French side winning home (2-1) and away (4-0) in the last 16 of the Champions League in 2013/14.

PSG have only won two of their last 10 away games against German sides in the Champions League (drawing twice and losing six).

Bayer Leverkusen have only won one of their six games in European competition in 2025 (drawing two and losing three).

PSG can equal their longest-ever winning run in the Champions League with a win.

Prediction

Bayer Leverkusen head into Tuesday’s Champions League clash with PSG as underdogs and dealing with a number of injuries makes the task even more difficult.

While the Black and Reds are not expected to win, they are likely to find the net against the French giants having scored in every game this season, most recently beating Mainz 4-3 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Christian Kofane got a goal in that match and is currently on a three-game scoring run.

PSG will be confident of following up their win at Barcelona with a victory in Germany, although they have been held by Lille and Strasbourg in their last two Ligue 1 matches.

The French side have only kept one clean sheet in the last five games, further suggesting the BayArena could see plenty of goals on Tuesday.

Of the managers to have overseen more than 50 games in the Champions League, Luis Enrique has the highest win percentage (65.6%) in the competition and can expect to enhance his record against Leverkusen.

It should be an exciting game at the BayArena but with Leverkusen dealing with a number of absences, PSG are the favourites and should take another step towards sealing early qualification to the next round.
