  • An improving Mainz have won three Bundesliga fixtures in a row ahead of their trip to play second-place Borussia Dortmund.

  • Hoffenheim’s five-match winning streak was ended by Bayern Munich last week. Can they bounce back when they host Freiburg on Saturday?

  • RB Leipzig will have their eyes on third spot when they welcome an out-of-sorts Wolfsburg to the Red Bull Arena on Sunday.

Game week 22 of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season with the usual Friday evening fixture, which is hosted in Dortmund this time, with in-form Mainz the visitors.

On Saturday, the five-game afternoon card is anchored by Werder Bremen’s date with leaders Bayern Munich, while a clash between Stuttgart and FC Koln has been handed the evening's televised slot.

Two more matches follow on Sunday, including Augsburg’s meeting with bottom club Heidenheim and RB Leipzig’s tussle with a toiling Wolfsburg outfit.

We’ve got tips and predictions for all nine Bundesliga fixtures from week 22 of the 2025/26 campaign below.

Borussia Dortmund vs Mainz (Friday, 7:30pm)

Dortmund made hard work of their win at Wolfsburg (2-1) last time out, but eventually managed to prevail thanks to a late Serhou Guirassy strike in the 87th minute. BVB have now won five Bundesliga assignments on the spin and they are favourites to extend that streak on Friday evening.

Mainz could post questions at Signal Iduna Park, however. The visitors are in fine form and though they needed a couple of penalty kicks to see off Augsburg (2-0) last weekend, that was still their third win in a row. Expect Urs Fischer’s improvers to put up a fight.

Score prediction: Borussia Dortmund 3-2 Mainz

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Borussia Monchengladbach (Saturday, 2:30pm)

Eintracht Frankfurt picked up a point at Union Berlin (1-1) in new head coach Albert Riera’s first game at the helm. Die Adler didn’t impress however, and registered just three attempts, scoring from their only effort on target.

Gladbach had a similar result against Bayer Leverkusen (1-1) last weekend and looked dangerous on the counter attack in that tie, having had just 39.3% possession. Die Fohlen should be useful on transitions again on Saturday and can earn another share of the spoils.

Score prediction: Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Borussia Monchengladbach

Hamburg vs Union Berlin (Saturday, 2:30pm)

Hamburg built on their surprise 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich with a 2-0 win at bottom-club Heidenheim last weekend, though they did need a man-of-the-match performance from keeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes to keep a clean sheet there.

Union Berlin are still winless since the end of the winter break in Germany, though they did show signs of life in their 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt a week ago. Both Hamburg and Union (4 in 6 each) have been racking up draws in general, so they might cancel each other out here.

Score prediction: Hamburg 1-1 Union Berlin

Hoffenheim vs Freiburg (Saturday, 2:30pm)

Hoffenheim were dealt a chastening dose of reality last weekend when their impressive unbeaten surge came to a shuddering halt at Bayern Munich and it will be interesting to see how they recover from that 5-1 mauling in Bavaria.

Visiting Freiburg were involved in DFB Pokal action in midweek and that tie with Hertha Berlin went through extra and on to penalty kicks. Fatigue has got to be a factor here then with the fast turnaround between fixtures, and Hoffenheim could take their chance to bounce back.

Score prediction: Hoffenheim 2-1 Freiburg

Bayer Leverkusen vs St Pauli (Saturday, 2:30pm)

Just two weeks ago, Bayer Leverkusen eased to a 3-0 win over St. Pauli in the DFB Pokal at the BayArena. That was Die Werkself’s fourth win in their last five fixtures at that venue and they should be total command there again on Saturday.

St. Pauli won for only the fourth time this season when they shocked Stuttgart (2-1) last weekend, however, that unlikely triumph was achieved at home and the strugglers have lost eight of their 11 away games in the Bundesliga since August.

Score prediction: Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 St Pauli

Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich (Saturday, 2:30pm)

Werder Bremen lost 1-0 at Freiburg last weekend despite playing the final 30 minutes of the contest with a one-man advantage and subsequently slipped into the Bundesliga’s bottom three after full time.

Werder haven’t won a league fixture since the first week of November, so they are likely to offer little resistance when Bayern Munich visit. The champions flexed their considerable muscle in last week’s 5-1 win over highflying Hoffenheim and they can dominate again in this one.

Score prediction: Werder Bremen 1-4 Bayern Munich

Stuttgart vs FC Koln (Saturday, 5:30pm)

Stuttgart’s pursuit of a top-four finish hit a bump last week when they slipped to a surprise 2-1 reverse at prime relegation candidates St. Pauli. They had won five and drawn two of their previous Bundesliga matches however, so they should be able to muster a response on Saturday.

FC Koln failed to harness home advantage against RB Leipzig (1-2) last time out, though they have been even less reliable on the road where they have lost four and drawn two of their last six tests. That travel sickness could leave them disappointed again on Saturday evening.

Score prediction: Stuttgart 2-1 FC Koln

Augsburg vs FC Heidenheim (Sunday, 2:30pm)

Augsburg lost at big improvers Mainz in their last league fixture, though their home at the WWK Arena has been a more fertile hunting ground. Augsburg are unbeaten in six games there and they turned second-from-bottom St. Pauli when last on their own patch.

Rock bottom Heidenheim are a team of similar quality to St. Pauli, so Augsburg will be targeting a similar result. The visitors have lost six and drawn two of their last eight Bundesliga bouts and they also have the division’s worst away record this term (4 points).

Score prediction: Augsburg 2-0 FC Heidenheim

RB Leipzig vs Wolfsburg (Sunday, 4:30pm)

RB Leipzig’s DFB Pokal dreams were dashed by trophy-hungry Bayern Munich (0-2) in midweek, though Die Roten Bullen can expect better against Wolfsburg. Leipzig have won 70% of their Bundesliga home games this season and they can lean on home advantage again here.

Wolfsburg’s 2-1 loss to Dortmund a week ago was their third successive defeat and with their substantial injury list showing no signs of shortening, Die Wolfe look short-handed for Sunday’s trick test.

Score prediction: RB Leipzig 3-1 Wolfsburg
