The USA are already assured of top spot after beating Australia and Paraguay
Australia and Paraguay will battle it out for second place in Santa Clara
Turkiye are set to leave the tournament after losing their opening two games

The qualification process in Group D looks simple as the USA are already guaranteed to top the section, having registered two wins from two so far.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side meet already-eliminated Turkiye in Los Angeles, while the other two teams in the section, Paraguay and Australia, know a draw in their game in Santa Clara should ensure they both qualify for the last 32.

Turkiye vs USA (Friday, 3am)
Qualification for the knockout stages has gone perfectly for joint hosts the USA, but they may not be able to claim a full return from their three matches when they face Turkiye at the SoFi Stadium on Friday morning.
The Americans have had few problems in beating Paraguay and Australia but with thoughts turning to the last 32, this may be an occasion when Mauricio Pochettino’s side attempt to save some energy.
Star Christian Pulisic looks unlikely to play in a game that does not have to be won, while Tyler Adams, Folarin Balogun, Chris Richards and Antonee Robinson would all miss the next game if they picked up another yellow card.
So Pochettino may not take many risks and with the Americans having lost their last seven games against European opposition, winless Turkiye could finish with a flourish.
They fired off a total of 62 shots in their two defeats to Australia and Paraguay, so they may be able to get their act together and at least have something to show for their efforts by beating a team who could have their eyes on bigger things.

Paraguay vs Australia (Friday, 3am)
Paraguay and Australia know that a point apiece should see them through to the last 32 and it is no surprise to see the draw a short price for Friday morning’s meeting in Santa Clara.
There was a feeling that a potentially easier fixture in the knockout round for the group runner-up would be an attractive proposition, but with Belgium possibly providing the opposition for the team finishing second, that has calmed somewhat.
Australia hold the advantage on goal difference and will be playing a team without their chief playmaker Miguel Almiron, who was sent off in Paraguay’s 1-0 win over Turkiye.
So this could be a game where chances and indeed motivation are in short supply so it makes sense to back there being no more than one goal as a stalemate would be beneficial to both outfits.
