Group C at the 2026 World Cup features one of the favourites to win the competition as five-time winners Brazil are joined by Morocco, Scotland and Haiti in a group featuring nations from four different continents.

With some high-quality matches in prospect, we have looked at each team’s form and their key players ahead of the group fixtures that will take place at five different venues across the United States.

Brazil

Brazil are the most successful nation in World Cup history with five wins and they are also the only team to have taken part in every tournament. However, the Selecao have not had much recent success, with four quarter-final exits and a fourth-place finish since their last triumph in 2002.

The Selecao finished only fifth of the six automatic qualifiers in the CONMEBOL tournament, suffering six defeats in 18 games including losses to Uruguay, Colombia, Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia, but they are still seen as one of the favourites to lift the trophy.

That is not surprising considering the abundance of talent in their squad, which features Alisson in goal, Champions League finalists Marquinhos and Gabriel Magalhaes in defence, Casemiro in midfield and superstars Raphinha, Neymar and Vinicius Junior in attack.

The quality of their roster is perhaps best illustrated by the high calibre of the players who missed out, with Chelsea duo Joao Pedro and Estevao and Tottenham's Richarlison all deemed surplus to requirements.

Morocco

Morocco are coming off their best ever World Cup performance as they finished fourth in Qatar in 2022, knocking out Spain and Portugal before losing to France in the semi-finals.

The North African nation had never previously got past the round of 16 but the official 2025 Africa Cup of Nations winners (after a controversial final against Senegal) were dominant in their qualifying group, winning all eight of their matches, scoring 22 goals and conceding only two.

Manager Mohamed Ouahbi has been in charge only since March, when former coach Walid Regragui stepped down, but he seems keen to build on the progress made under his predecessor with no wholesale changes.

Star man Achraf Hakimi of PSG leads a rock-solid defence, and other experienced performers Noussair Mazraoui and Azzedine Ounahi are joined by Premier League performers Issa Diop, Amine Adli and Chemsdine Talbi plus Brahim Diaz, Bilal El Khannouss and Rayane Bounida in a talented squad.

Haiti

Haiti are making only their second appearance at the World Cup finals after losing all three of their group matches in 1974.

They finished above some more recognised World Cup nations in their CONCACAF qualifying group, however, edging out Honduras and Costa Rica, with all three teams suffering only one defeat.

The Haitians kept clean sheets in all three of their home games but twice conceded three goals on the road. The well-travelled Duckens Nazon was their top scorer in qualifying and has scored 44 goals while earning 80 caps.

They have broadened their horizons to strengthen their squad, bringing in Premier League pair Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Wilson Isidor, plus Ruben Providence, who plays for Dutch team Almere City.

Scotland

Few nations will be more elated at qualifying than Scotland, who will be at the World Cup finals for the first time since 1998.

Steve Clarke's team finished ahead of Denmark and Greece to win their UEFA qualifying group, winning all three of their home games, including a decisive 4-2 victory over the Danes in their last match.

Scott McTominay of Napoli is their star player but their midfield suffered a blow when Billy Gilmour was injured in the warm-up win over Curacao.

Who will win World Cup Group C?

Brazil have not had the ideal preparation for the World Cup but despite their underwhelming qualifying campaign, it would be a disappointment if they cannot finish top of the group.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has focused his efforts on strengthening his team's defence and the results have been positive with Gabriel Magalhaes and Marquinhos providing a solid spine.

Calling up injury-hit 34-year-old Neymar ahead of some younger talent has been controversial but the veteran forward is not likely to be crucial to their chances with La Liga stars Vinicius Junior, Raphinha and Rodrygo available.

Morocco look the main dangers to a Brazil win given their recent run of success, and they can take hope from the fact that the South American side have dropped points in each of their last four World Cup finals groups.

However, even if they can hold Ancelotti's side to a draw, Brazil's greater firepower should see them rack up a superior goal difference in the other two matches.

Brazil have won their opening World Cup group at 11 consecutive tournaments since finishing second to Austria on goals scored in 1978 and their talented squad should be up to extending that run.

Who will qualify from World Cup Group C?

Morocco are interesting contenders to go a fair way in the tournament, so it would be surprising if they cannot claim one of the two automatic qualification places.

Their ruthless run of recent success should fill them full of confidence for their matches against Scotland and Haiti even if they cannot cause an upset in their opener against Brazil.

The big question is which of Scotland or Haiti will also have a chance to progress by finishing third and the European nation should hold the edge. That is reflected in the odds with the Scots 1/4 to qualify and the Caribbean nation 8/1 to progress and 1/20 to finish bottom of the group.

The teams will know where they stand soon enough as they meet at Gillette Stadium in their first match, but the Scots showed enough spirit in qualifying to suggest they can avoid finishing fourth.

Who will be the top scorer of World Cup Group C?

Neymar is joint-sixth in Brazil's all-time World Cup top scorers list with eight goals, but four of those were scored 12 years ago at home in the 2014 tournament and a younger Brazilian looks a better bet to be the Group C hotshot.

Morocco's strength is defence rather than attack, while Scotland and Haiti are not likely to score many against anyone apart from each other, so the Brazilian battle looks key.

Vinicius Junior ended the domestic season in fine form for Real Madrid, with five goals in his last six La Liga appearances, and he is in his prime now at 25 having opened his World Cup finals account against South Korea in 2022.

Raphinha has to be a serious contender after topping Brazil's qualifying goalscorer list with five, and he ended the Spanish season with a double strike against Real Betis, but this could be Vini Jr's time to shine.
