Augsburg need a victory over Gladbach to keep their slender hopes of landing a seventh-place finish alive.
Rock bottom Heidenheim will officially be relegated if they fail to win at FC Koln on Sunday.
Stuttgart are targeting a first home win over Bayer Leverkusen since 2010 when the top-four rivals clash on Saturday.
The penultimate match week of the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign starts on Friday evening at Signal Iduna Park, where Borussia Dortmund take on Eintracht Frankfurt, whoa are desperate for points to strengthen their push for continental qualification.
On Saturday, Germany’s top tier serves up five more fixtures, with Stuttgart’s encounter with Bayer Leverkusen the pick of the afternoon kick-offs. Saturday evening’s televised offering features pits Wolfsburg against a Bayern Munich outfit licking their wounds following their Champions League exit.
Three more matches follow on Sunday, including Heidenheim’s do-or-die trip to Koln and below, we’ve got previews, predictions and Bundesliga betting tips for all nine games from week 33 of the season.
Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt (Friday, 7:30 pm)
Already guaranteed to finish second (or third if they’re overtaken by RB Leipzig), Dortmund have had little to play for in the campaign’s final exchanges and they looked unmotivated in last weekend’s 1-0 reverse at Gladbach. BVB mustered just a single shot on target in that limp showing, in what was their third loss in four Bundesliga assignments.
Eintracht Frankfurt still have eyes on qualification for the Conference League through a seventh-place finish this term, though their return of just one victory suggests they might fall short. Die Adler continue to toil in the final third under Albert Riera. They lost 2-1 at home to Hamburg when last seen and they’ve notched one or fewer goals in six of their last eight games overall. Expect a low-key contest at Signal Iduna Park.
Score prediction: Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt
Augsburg vs Borussia Monchengladbach (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
Manuel Baum's Augsburg are now just three points beyond Eintracht Frankfurt and Freiburg in the race for seventh spot, thanks to last weekend’s impressive 3-1 triumph at Werder Bremen. 22-year-old Anton Kade bagged a brace in that win to take his recent haul up to four goals in six starts. Augsburg are unbeaten in five games now and can approach Saturday’s test with confidence.
Gladbach’s victory over Dortmund a week ago means they have officially beaten the drop and though they left it late to score the decider in that game (Haris Tabakovic, 88th minute), Die Fohlen deserved three points after a gritty shift. Gladbach have shown real mettle to lose only two of their last nine matches in the Bundesliga, and they’ve shipped just two goals in their last four fixtures combined. They could dig in for a share of the spoils at the WWK Arena.
Score prediction: Augsburg 1-1 Borussia Monchengladbach
Hoffenheim vs Werder Bremen (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
Hoffenheim came within a whisker of securing three precious points at top-four rivals Stuttgart’s expense last weekend, before they were pegged back by a 95th-minute leveller. Leading scorer Andrej Kramaric, scored twice in that 3-3 draw and penned fresh contract terms shortly after, and with the lethal Croatian the driving force, Hoffenheim could have too much firepower for Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Visiting Bremen might be safe regardless, but they can confirm their top-tier status for another year with a point at the PreZero Arena. They earned a surprise draw in their last away trip at Stuttgart (1-1) but regressed again in last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at home to Augsburg. Daniel Thioune’s side remain a puzzling side capable of upsets, though they should struggle to match Hoffenheim’s goal-scoring prowess.
Score prediction: Hoffenheim 3-1 Werder Bremen
RB Leipzig vs St. Pauli (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
RB Leipzig’s five-game winning streak came to a shuddering halt last weekend when they ran into a rampant Bayer Leverkusen. However, despite suffering a confidence-denting 4-1 loss there, Die Roten Bullen can still achieve their season-long aim of qualifying for the Champions League with a bounce-back victory at home to relegation contenders St. Pauli on Saturday.
Leipzig have won each of their last four home skirmishes in the Bundesliga, netting 11 times along the way and Ole Werner’s expansive side can make their superior class count again here. St. Pauli have lost five and drawn two of their last seven league games, including last weekend’s 2-1 reverse to Mainz. They are also winless in 14 of their last 15 attempts on their travels, and they are easy to oppose again in this one.
Score prediction: RB Leipzig 3-1 St. Pauli
VfB Stuttgart vs Bayer Leverkusen (Saturday, 2:30 pm)
A goal five minutes into added time from substitute Tiago Tomas allowed Stuttgart to escape Hoffenheim with a point last weekend (3-3), to keep the club on track for a finish in the top four. Die Schwaben (5th) could leapfrog Leverkusen (4th) with a win on Saturday and Stuttgart’s formidable home record this season suggests they could force the result they require to make the jump.
Bayer Leverkusen produced one of their best displays in months to trounce in-form RB Leipzig 4-1 last time out, though they have dropped points in four of their last seven league fixtures on the road. Stuttgart have only lost twice at the MHP Arena this term, with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund the only domestic victors at that venue since August. Stuttgart haven’t won at home against Leverkusen since 2010, though they could end that lengthy wait for success here.
Score prediction: VfB Stuttgart 3-2 Bayer Leverkusen
Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich (Saturday, 5:30 pm)
Wolfsburg moved out of the bottom two and into the relegation playoff position last weekend when they battled their way to a 1-1 draw at Freiburg, though they might have been in a more comfortable position had Christian Eriksen’s early shot not come back off the woodwork. Die Wolfe can’t be relegated with a loss this weekend, though they will be keen to avoid taking too much damage to their goal difference when they host the champions.
Vincent Kompany has been heavily rotating his squad in recent weeks, though his shuffling has impacted Bayern’s performances in the Bundesliga. They had to sub on all their big hitters at half time to claw back a three-goal deficit at Koln (4-3) two weeks ago and they needed similar to salvage a late point against Heidenheim (3-3) last weekend. Kompany is likely to field a weakened XI again on Saturday evening following Bayern’s Champions League exploits and exit in midweek, so more high-scoring chaos could be on the cards at the Volkswagen Arena.
Score prediction: Wolfsburg 3-3 Bayern Munich
Hamburg vs Freiburg (Sunday, 2:30 pm)
Hamburg emerged from an ill-tempered clash with Eintracht Frankfurt with all three points last weekend and that 2-1 comeback triumph ensured that Merlin Polzin’s side cannot finish lower than the relegation playoff position. Hamburg could be fully safe by the time they kick off on Sunday if St. Pauli and Wolfsburg fail to win their fixtures on Saturday, though a point against Freiburg would get them over the line in any case.
Freiburg, who contested the second leg of their Europa League semi-final against Braga on Thursday evening, have been hit and miss domestically, failing to win six of their last nine matches in the Bundesliga. They’ve also won only four times in 16 attempts on the road in the division since August and with a packed schedule testing their resources, Freiburg might drop more points at Volksparkstadion.
Score prediction: Hamburg 1-1 Freiburg
FC Koln vs Heidenheim (Sunday, 4:30 pm)
FC Koln thought they had sewn up three points last weekend when they established a two-goal advantage just after the hour mark in their away test at Union Berlin, however, they conceded twice late on and eventually drew for the fifth time in seven games. Koln have played with more bite in attack of late however, netting 2+ goals in four of their last six outings. In-demand winger, Said El Mala, has been leading the charge there and has registered five goal involvements in his last seven starts.
Bottom club Heidenheim were on the cusp of what would have been a sensational win at Bayern Munich last weekend before Michael Olise slammed in a 100th-minute equaliser. The highest position Frank Schmidt’s side can aim for now is the relegation playoff spot, though they need wins in their final two fixtures to land that. Heidenheim have lost only one of their last six games, though they haven’t won away since November, and they are unlikely to snap that run here.
Score prediction: FC Koln 2-2 Heidenheim
Mainz vs Union Berlin (Sunday, 6:30 pm)
First-half goals from Phillip Tietz and Phillipp Mwene put Mainz firmly in the driving seat at St. Pauli last weekend, and the 2-1 win they ultimately secured there officially confirmed their Bundesliga status for another year. Mainz have been remarkably consistent under Urs Fischer since the turn of the year, losing only four of their 17 league fixtures since the end of the German campaign’s winter break.
Die Nullfünfer will be determined to sign off in style in their last home game of the season at MEWA Arena on Sunday, and they should be able to topple a Union Berlin outfit that rarely travels well. The Iron Ones have lost six of their last seven away matches, and though their underlying numbers seem to be trending up under recent hire Marie-Louise Eta, their lack of quality in big moments has been telling. Back Mainz to win this one.
Score prediction: Mainz 2-1 Union Berlin
