Insider Kaveh Solhekol has revealed Arsenal plan for Cesc Fabregas to be their boss in the future, as Thierry Henry feels questions are going to be asked of Mikel Arteta soon.

Arsenal have gone from a potential quadruple this season to not being certain to win either of the competitions they remain in. They slipped below Manchester City in the Premier League title race of late, and the Citizens will go back top if they win their next game in hand.

In the Champions League, Arsenal's semi-final tie with Atletico Madrid is at 1-1 going into the second leg.

The future of manager Arteta could be hanging in the balance, as Arsenal were expected to win at the very least one of the four competitions they reached the latter stages of.

The Gunners reportedly know what's going to happen in their future: their former midfielder Fabregas will take up the manager role at some juncture.

Sky Sports insider Solhekol has said: “Cesc Fabregas, what I’ve been told, there’s some kind of suggestion that long-term, the plan for him is to manage Arsenal one day.

“I’m not sure moving to Chelsea would be part of his career progression.”

Fabregas is vying to qualify for the Champions League with Como, for the first time in their history. Just a couple of seasons after promotion to Serie A, the former midfielder has his club just three points off fourth-placed Juventus, with four games left to play this season.

Fabregas' rapid rise as a manager has him reportedly eyed by some big sides, and that he previously managed Chelsea, who are without a permanent boss at the moment, has led to speculation that he could head to Stamford Bridge.

Questions coming for Arteta

Arsenal legend Henry feels questions will soon be asked of Arteta if he can't engineer success with one of the best squads in world football.

He said on CBS Sports: “The board is going to have to decide what they are gonna do with Mikel Arteta. All I’m saying is that at one point, after all those years and the amount of money on the table to have two teams - we have all said Arsenal have the best squad this season.

“At one point, you’ll have to talk and answer some questions if you don’t win. It is just a normal thing after so long.

“While it’s all good and we are all supporting as Arsenal fans where we are going to be, but if it doesn’t happen, like I always said, you are going to have to answer some questions that the board is going to ask you.”

Should Arsenal fail to win a single trophy this season after the strong position they found themselves in a month or so ago, those conversations could come this summer.
