  • Everton have kept four clean sheets in their last five matches

  • Liverpool have failed to win eight of their last ten Premier League outings

  • Burnley have lost their last six top-flight games

The north east will come to a standstill on Sunday with the first derby meeting of the season between Sunderland and Newcastle, which is the highlight of another busy weekend of Premier League action.

Chelsea vs Everton (Saturday, 3pm)

Chelsea looked set to be Arsenal’s chief challengers at the top of the table a few weeks ago, but they were unable to build upon a 3-0 Champions League victory over Barcelona and have failed to win their last four Premier League matches.

They face another tough test against Everton, who have kept four clean sheets in their last five matches and the Toffees will not fear a trip to Stamford Bridge having beaten Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest in their last two games.

Score prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Everton

Liverpool vs Brighton (Saturday, 3pm)

It was not that long ago since some were suggesting Liverpool could win the Premier League without losing a match this season, but the champions have undergone a big slump and their fortunes may not improve much when they entertain Brighton on Saturday.

The Reds have won just two of their last 10 league games, while the Seagulls have scored at least twice in six of their last eight top-flight outings and are capable of claiming a point at Anfield.

Score prediction: Liverpool 2-2 Brighton

Burnley vs Fulham (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Burnley’s defence was superb in the Championship last season, but they have been found wanting this term as only woeful Wolves have conceded more goals and Scott Parker's side are looking to break a sequence of six straight league defeats against his former club Fulham.

The Cottagers have not been convincing on the road and were gifted goals in their only away win, a 2-1 success at Tottenham, but they should have enough to ensure they leave Lancashire with the points after facing a team who look set for relegation.

Score prediction: Burnley 1-2 Fulham

Arsenal vs Wolves (Saturday, 8pm)

Arsenal need to be on the ball having seen Manchester City cut their lead to two points following the Gunners’ 2-1 loss to Aston Villa last week, but Mikel Arteta’s side are highly unlikely to slip up against Wolves, who have endured a miserable start to the campaign.

The north London leaders got back in the groove with a 3-0 win at Club Brugge in the Champions League in midweek, and with Wolves having taken just two points from their 15 games following a 4-1 humbling by Manchester United on Monday, this looks set to go only one way.

Score prediction: Arsenal 4-0 Wolves

Crystal Palace vs Manchester City (Sunday, 2pm)

Palace are up to fourth in the Premier League and going along nicely but their four victories since the end of September have come against Brentford, Wolves, Burnley and Fulham, all of whom are in the bottom seven going into this round of games.

That makes them vulnerable when facing City, who now have Arsenal firmly in their sights after five wins in their last six games with Pep Guardiola’s side scoring an impressive 18 goals during that run.

Score prediction: Crystal Palace 1-3 Manchester City

Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham (Sunday, 2pm)

Three wins in their last five Premier League games have steadied the ship for Nottingham Forest and they may enjoy more success against Tottenham after the Tricky Trees bounced back from a 3-0 humbling at Everton by beating Utrecht in the Europa League.

Spurs continue to blow hot and cold and while they got over the line against Brentford at home last week, recent away performances have been poor as they were fortunate to gain a point at Newcastle after being humbled 4-1 at Arsenal on their previous road assignment.

Score prediction: Nottingham Forest 2-1 Tottenham

Sunderland vs Newcastle (Sunday, 2pm)

The Tyne-Wear derby tops the bill on Sunday with hosts Sunderland, unbeaten in seven home league games following promotion, facing a Newcastle side whose recent matches have been full of goals.

The Magpies claimed their first away win of the season when they won 4-1 at Everton and with both teams scoring and at least three goals in each of the Magpies last eight league games, this looks a game that is unlikely to disappoint.

Score prediction: Sunderland 2-2 Newcastle

West Ham vs Aston Villa (Sunday, 2pm)

Aston Villa have won nine of their last 10 Premier League matches with their most recent being a 2-1 success over Arsenal and they can continue their rampant form at West Ham after overcoming a Europa League assignment at Basel on Thursday.

The Hammers have slipped into the bottom three after two wins from their last 12 matches and it looks a difficult task for them to avoid a sixth home league defeat of the campaign.

Score prediction: West Ham 0-2 Aston Villa

Brentford vs Leeds (Sunday, 4.30pm)

Brentford have lost three of their last four matches, but their home form remains strong and they can get the better of Leeds.

Manchester City are the only team to have overcome the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium this season and while their visitors will have been boosted by a win over Chelsea and a draw with Liverpool, the only away game where they have got anything this term was at bottom-of-the-table Wolves.

Score prediction: Brentford 2-0 Leeds

Manchester Utd vs Bournemouth (Monday, 8pm)

The clouds appear to be lifting at Old Trafford as Manchester United have lost just one of their last nine Premier League games, running out 4-1 winners at Wolves on Monday.

It would be easy to get carried away by that performance against a poor team, but they can gain another three points against Bournemouth, who have failed to win in their last six league games and lost their last three on the road at Sunderland, Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Score prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Bournemouth
