Manchester United value Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson at £80million and think anything over that is a 'disgrace,' reports Indy Kaila.

United and rivals Manchester City have been the two main sides attacking Anderson of late. The Red Devils evidently want to improve their midfield, with it understood two new players will join in the centre of the park this summer.

Anderson is one of the main names linked, but there are reasons stacking up as to why they won't land him.

Interest from City, who had a bid worth an initial £106million turned down of late, spells trouble for United in their pursuit, particularly as they'll refuse to pay that.

Indeed, it's reported they value Anderson at £80million and feel anything above that is a 'disgrace.'

Reports of late have suggested that Forest want £130million if they're to let Anderson go, and with United not willing to go within £50million of that, and City having already tried to pay much closer and being rejected, the Red Devils seem to have no chance of making the move.

Anderson could break record

The £130million that Forest want to receive from City would be £110million straight up, with a potential of £20million in add-ons.

That deal in it's entirety would see the English midfielder become the third-most expensive footballer in history, behind only Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

That would also mean that a move for Anderson would break the British transfer record, set when Alexander Isak moved from Newcastle to Liverpool for £125million last summer.

Whether City are planning to comply with Forest's demands remains to be seen, but it feels pretty evident that United won't be doing so.

In any case, England boss Thomas Tuchel hopes Anderson's demeanour doesn't change if he is sold for a large fee.

He said: "No comment! He seems not affected. It was an amazing performance, so all is fine.

"Even if – if – a transfer is completed, hopefully he stays the same person. Nothing will change overnight with him; if he wakes up, he's not a new player.

"People will try to hang around his neck, but in reality, nothing changes, he just changes the club, and those are the rules of the game. Hopefully he just stays the same – a humble, determined, hungry football player."
