Red-hot Cambridge are backed to secure a seventh win in a row when they visit hapless Harrogate Town.
Swindon have steadied the ship with successive wins and the Robins can strengthen their automatic promotion bid with a win at home to Oldham.
Colchester will be targeting a victory over third-from-bottom Shrewsbury to reignite their playoff push.
With Accrington Stanley and Salford City facing off on Thursday evening, there is a slightly truncated 11-game fixture slate for League Two on Saturday, February 7th.
The day begins with the two lunchtime offerings, Crawley vs Crewe and Swindon vs Oldham, before launching into a nine-match slugfest from 3pm, with fixtures on the card that are guaranteed to impact developments at both ends of the table.
Crawley Town vs Crewe Alexandra (Saturday, 12:30pm)
Scott Lindsey’s Crawley are on the up and their steady performance against Harrogate last weekend (2-0) pushed their unbeaten run to three games in League Two. However, Saturday’s opponents, Crewe have also been making strides, losing only one of their last seven assignments. They did draw three times during that stretch however, and another share of the spoils feels likely here.
Score prediction: Crawley Town 1-1 Crewe Alexandra
Swindon Town vs Oldham Athletic (Saturday, 12:30pm)
Swindon have steadied themselves following their New Year’s blip and they should be ready to go again on Saturday following timely back-to-back wins over Barrow (3-1) and Harrogate (1-0). Oldham were outclassed by third-placed Cambridge (0-3) last weekend, so they should struggle again against the high-flying Robins (5th)
Score prediction: Swindon Town 2-0 Oldham Athletic
Bristol Rovers vs Chesterfield (Saturday, 3pm)
Successive 2-0 home wins over Newport and Walsall represent a definite corner turned for Bristol Rovers and hosting a game for the third fixture in a row, the Pirates can upset Chesterfield’s playoff push. The visitors have won only once in seven attempts and they blew a two-goal lead against the aforementioned Walsall (2-2) a week ago.
Score prediction: Bristol Rovers 2-1 Chesterfield
Cheltenham Town vs Milton Keynes Dons (Saturday, 3pm)
Cheltenham were three goals down by the hour mark in their loss at Accrington a week ago and that was their sixth defeat in seven matches in league and cup. MK Dons have been faring better, though they really should have notched a fourth win in a row at Grimsby last weekend, when they threw away a two-goal first-half lead. Still, the Dons have lost only once in ten league games and they can rebound at the EV Charger Points Stadium.
Score prediction: Cheltenham Town 1-2 Milton Keynes Dons
Colchester United vs Shrewsbury Town (Saturday, 3pm)
Defeats to Fleetwood (1-2) and Crewe (0-1) over the past week have eaten into Colchester’s playoff prospects, though a bounce-back victory could be in the works on Saturday. Shrewsbury nicked an undeserved point at home to Barnet last weekend, but they’ve lost 80% of their last ten away games in all competitions and can be opposed again here.
Score prediction: Colchester United 1-0 Shrewsbury Town
Fleetwood Town vs Bromley (Saturday, 3pm)
Fleetwood’s upturn under caretaker boss Matt Lawlor didn’t last long and Town’s win at Harrogate two weeks ago was quickly followed by a defeat at home to second-placed Notts County (1-2). On Saturday, leaders Bromley take their turn to visit Highbury Stadium, where their 11-game unbeaten record is likely to remain intact.
Score prediction: Fleetwood Town 1-2 Bromley
Gillingham vs Tranmere Rovers (Saturday, 3pm)
Gillingham faced the division’s top two over the past seven days, losing twice, though they weren’t disgraced in their narrow 1-0 reverse at Notts County on Tuesday evening. They matched their hosts for shots on target (4-4) in midweek and their competitive display should set them up for something better against a lacklustre Tranmere outfit that has lost five games in a row.
Score prediction: Gillingham 2-0 Tranmere Rovers
Harrogate Town vs Cambridge United (Saturday, 3pm)
Rock-bottom Harrogate have lost five games in a row in League Two and on Saturday, hapless Town must rouse themselves to face one of the division’s form teams. Cambridge have won six league fixtures on the spin and their confident showing at Oldham (3-0) last weekend was a real eye-catcher. United can chase down a fourth straight away win in this one.
Score prediction: Harrogate Town 0-2 Cambridge United
Newport County vs Grimsby Town (Saturday, 3pm)
Grimsby’s five-game winning burst came to an end last weekend, though coming from two goals down to earn a point against MK Dons would have allowed them to maintain their momentum. Newport’s convincing loss at Bristol Rovers (0-3) the same day was their fourth loss in five and they are likely to remain nailed in second-last place by Grimsby.
Score prediction: Newport County 1-2 Grimsby Town
Notts County vs Barrow (Saturday, 3pm)
Notts County had to work hard to edge out Gillingham (1-0) in midweek, though the automatic promotion hopefuls are likely to enjoy smoother sailing against Barrow. The strugglers have lost six of their last seven league fixtures and though they upset the odds to beat Notts County in August’s reverse fixture, revenge could be on the menu here.
Score prediction: Notts County 3-1 Barrow
Walsall vs Barnet (Saturday, 3pm)
Walsall’s patchy form continued in midweek when they lost at Bristol Rovers and the Saddlers have now gone four games without tasting victory. Barnet are four places below their hosts in the table, however, their return of only one loss from their last eight games suggests they can match Walsall at the Bescot Stadium.
Score prediction: Walsall 1-1 Barnet
