  • Charlton have lost 10 of their last 17 games in all competitions

  • Stoke are unbeaten in their last four away matches

  • Recommended Bet: Stoke to win

There is only one fixture in the Championship on Wednesday but it is an interesting contest as Charlton host Stoke.

Charlton are just four points above the relegation zone and could do with a victory to ease their fears of dropping down to League One.

As for the Potters, they are still in the mix for a play-off finish, although they need to arrest their current slump in form.

Stoke won 3-0 when facing the Addicks in a midweek match in the Potteries in November and they may be capable of completing a double when they travel to London.

Team news

Charlton manager Nathan Jones has said he will make a late decision on whether Miles Leaburn can return from a shoulder injury after missing the QPR game.

Jones may field a largely unchanged team after his side recorded back-to-back clean sheets.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who spent a previous loan spell at Charlton, could keep his place in the Stoke starting line-up, while Maksym Tolovierov, Eric Bocat, Steven Nzonzi and Tomas Rigo are all in contention to come into the side if Mark Robins decides to make changes.

Ato Ampah is unlikely to feature while Junior Tchamadeu, Gavin Bazunu, Viktor Johansson, Robert Bozenik and Sam Gallagher are set to remain sidelined.

Prediction

Stoke have not won any of their last five games but they are still favourites to win at Charlton on Wednesday.

The Addicks have turned in a pair of improved results over the last 10 days, beating struggling Leicester 2-0 away before a solid goalless draw at home to QPR last Friday.

However, the visitors still appear to have more quality in their squad and their recent winless run has come against some challenging opposition in the form of QPR, Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Southampton and West Brom.

Both sides have tended to play in low-scoring games this season with Charlton scoring less than one goal per league match while Stoke have not scored three goals in a game since they beat the Addicks in November.

One or two may well be enough to pick up the points this time and the visitors, who won to nil on the road at Hull and Norwich in January, are worth backing to end their search for a victory at the Valley.
