Frank Lampard's Coventry continue to lead the way in the Championship
  • Coventry City are eight points clear at the top

  • Just six points separates second-placed Middlesbrough and Hull City in fifth

  • West Brom, Blackburn, Oxford, Leicester and Portsmouth all in relegation scrap

Coventry City stretched their lead to eight points at the top of Championship in midweek with a win over Preston, while second-placed Middlesbrough slipped up at home to Charlton.

The Sky Blues will be after another victory when they host Southampton on Saturday, while at the bottom West Brom, Leicester, Oxford and Blackburn all need points in the fight for survival.

We look ahead to all 12 games in the Championship this weekend, with the action spread out between Friday and Monday.

Wrexham vs Swansea City (Friday, 8pm)

Wrexham failed to bounce back from their FA Cup defeat at the hands of Chelsea as they also lost at home to fellow play-off hopefuls Hull City on Tuesday.

The Welsh side are still sixth, though and can return to winning ways against Swansea, who are down in 11th place.

Score prediction: Wrexham 2-0 Swansea City

Coventry City vs Southampton (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Coventry took another step towards the Championship title with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Preston and they should make it seven victories on the spin when they host Saints, ending Tonda Eckert's side's impressive nine-game unbeaten league run in the process.

Score prediction: Coventry 2-1 Southampton

Middlesbrough vs Bristol City (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Middlesbrough's home defeat to Charlton was a setback to their automatic promotion aims, but they look set to respond when they face Bristol City, who have lost their last three in the league, on Saturday.

Score prediction: Middlesbrough 3-1 Bristol City

Oxford United vs Charlton Athletic (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Oxford came out on top against fellow relegation-threatened Blackburn in midweek and the U's will be after another vital three points at home when they face Charlton.

The Addicks have moved nine points clear of the bottom three in recent weeks following impressive wins over Birmingham and Boro.

Score prediction: Oxford United 1-0 Charlton Athletic

Birmingham City vs Sheffield United (Saturday, 3pm)

Birmingham got their play-off bid back on track with a 1-0 home win over QPR on Wednesday, but they may have to settle for a point at St Andrew's when the Blades visit.

Score prediction: Birmingham City 1-1 Sheffield United

Leicester City vs QPR (Saturday, 3pm)

Leicester remain in real danger of going down, with the Foxes only above Oxford in the final relegation spot on goal difference.

However, they got a much-needed win over Bristol City on Tuesday and can pick up another huge three points when they face Rangers, who have lost their last four.

Score prediction: Leicester City 2-1 QPR

Millwall vs Blackburn Rovers (Saturday, 3pm)

Millwall are flying at just the right time as the Lions are now on a four-game winning run and are only a point off second-placed Middlesbrough.

Rovers, in contrast, have lost three of their last four games, and their hopes of staying up could be further hit by defeat in the capital.

Score prediction: Millwall 4-1 Blackburn Rovers

Norwich City vs Preston North End (Saturday, 3pm)

Norwich made it three wins in their last four games when they edged out Sheffield United 2-1 in midweek and up against a Preston outfit who have lost three on the trot, the Canaries will expect to secure another three points.

Score prediction: Norwich City 2-0 Preston North End

Sheffield Wednesday vs Ipswich Town (Saturday, 3pm)

Relegated Sheffield Wednesday secured an unexpected home draw against Watford on Tuesday, but Ipswich, who are still in the automatic promotion hunt, should ease to an away win at Hillsborough.

Score prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 0-3 Ipswich Town

Stoke City vs Watford (Saturday, 3pm)

Stoke threw away a 2-0 lead when drawing 3-3 at home with Ipswich last time out and the Potters may only be good enough for a point when they host Watford, who still have a chance of making the top six.

Score prediction: Stoke City 1-1 Watford

West Brom vs Hull City (Saturday, 3pm)

West Brom have steadied the ship with consecutive 1-1 draws against Sheff Utd and Southampton, but up against fifth-placed Hull the Baggies are tipped to struggle.

Score prediction: West Brom 0-2 Hull City

Portsmouth vs Derby County (Monday, 8pm)

Portsmouth are two points clear of the bottom three as the scrap for survival intensifies and they can claim a massive three points against the Rams on Monday evening, damaging the visitors' play-off prospects.

Score prediction Portsmouth 2-0 Derby
