  • A Welsh derby between Swansea and Wrexham opens the weekend on Friday

  • There are 11 matches taking place on Saturday in the second tier

  • The pick of Saturday's games sees leaders Coventry visit Southampton

With little separating the teams jostling for the play-off places, it is set be another intriguing few days as the 2025/26 Championship season heads into Week 22.

Coventry still lead the way at the top of the standings and hold a five-point advantage over second-placed Middlesbrough.

With just five points separating third-placed Preston and Derby in 12th, teams are desperately trying to keep up the pace in the race for promotion.

We’ve got score predictions for all 12 fixtures this weekend..

Swansea vs Wrexham (Friday, 8pm)

A first meeting between these Welsh rivals in the league since 2003, there will be plenty of interest in Friday night’s clash between Swansea and Wrexham.

With four draws recorded in their previous five Championship away outings, Wrexham might well pick up another point on the road.

Score prediction: Swansea 1-1 Wrexham

Blackburn vs Millwall (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Millwall will look to get their push for the top two back on track when they head to a struggling Blackburn side on Saturday lunchtime.

Rovers have failed to win any of their last five games in the Championship and the Lions might just have the edge at Ewood Park.

Score prediction: Blackburn 1-2 Millwall

Preston vs Norwich (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Preston have been one of the surprise packages in the Championship this season and they should overcome relegation-threatened Norwich at Deepdale on Saturday.

Losing just one of their last 10 games, the Lilywhites are in great form and should win this one, even though Preston have not kept a clean sheet in their last eight matches.

Score prediction: Preston 2-1 Norwich

Southampton vs Coventry (Saturday, 12.30pm)

One of the picks of the Week 22 fixtures, promotion hopefuls Southampton and Coventry will face off at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.

Getting back to winning ways against Bristol City last time out, the Sky Blues can back that up against a resurgent Southampton side who did suffer a 2-1 defeat to strugglers Norwich last time out.

Score prediction: Southampton 1-2 Coventry

Bristol City vs Middlesbrough (Saturday, 3pm)

Middlesbrough are the form team in the Championship right now and they can pick up three more valuable points at Bristol City on Saturday.

Currently on a four-game winning streak, Boro have the momentum and quality to beat a Robins side who have failed to win in their last three games, with two defeats and one draw.

Score prediction: Bristol City 0-2 Middlesbrough

Charlton vs Oxford (Saturday, 3pm)

There is a big game near the bottom of the table on Saturday, as 17th-placed Charlton host an Oxford side sitting just inside the relegation zone..

Only three other teams in the Championship have had more draws than Oxford this season and the U’s can earn another point on the road at The Valley.

Score prediction: Charlton 1-1 Oxford

Derby vs Portsmouth (Saturday, 3pm)

Portsmouth have the worst away record in the Championship and it is hard to see them getting anything from their visit to Pride Park this weekend.

While Pompey have earned just one win away from home this season, Derby seem to have turned a corner with four points in their last two games and the Rams should come out on top.

Score prediction: Derby 2-0 Portsmouth

Hull vs West Brom (Saturday, 3pm)

Currently on a two-game winning streak, promotion contenders Hull will fancy their chances against a West Brom side down in 16th place in the standings.

The Baggies have lost all of their last seven away games in the Championship and the Tigers can claim the spoils.

Score prediction: Hull 2-0 West Brom

Ipswich vs Sheffield Wednesday (Saturday, 3pm)

Ipswich will be looking for a response when they host rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday at Portman Road.

Having lost 3-1 to Leicester last time out, this is the perfect fixture for Kieran McKenna’s men to get back in the saddle.

Score prediction: Ipswich 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday

QPR vs Leicester (Saturday, 3pm)

Leicester are making up ground on the top six and they can continue to close the gap when they travel to Loftus Road.

The Foxes are unbeaten in their last three games and should edge a game against a QPR side who were beaten 3-1 by Middlesbrough last time out.

Score prediction: QPR 1-2 Leicester

Sheffield United vs Birmingham (Saturday, 3pm)

Birmingham have hit a rough patch with no wins in their last three Championship outings.

A trip to Bramall Lane certainly will not make things easier, with Sheffield United fancied to claim another three points on home soil

Score prediction: Sheffield United 2-1 Birmingham

Watford vs Stoke (Saturday, 3pm)

Stoke have struggled on the road recently and they might well leave Vicarage Road with nothing to show for their efforts.

The Potters have lost all of their last three away games and Watford, who have the fourth best home record in the Championship, are backed for the win.

Score prediction: Watford 2-1 Stoke
