NBA postseason action continues tonight with two more Play-In games. There's only one NHL matchup worth watching now that all the playoff teams are set in stone. Lastly, there are three MLB games to keep an eye on. Here are the biggest North American sporting events taking place on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026.
MLB
Miami Marlins @ Atlanta Braves at 7:15 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.
After last night's impressive eighth-inning rally that resulted in a 6-5 win, the Braves now have a two-game lead in the NL East divisional race. Bryce Elder gets the nod for Atlanta. He has been the team's best starting pitcher with a 1.02 ERA in a little over 17 innings pitched this season. As for Miami, they'll turn to Chris Paddack, who looks to continue to improve his ERA after giving up eight earned runs in his first start of the season. Since then, he has had a 1.69 ERA.
One question that will be answered: Considering these squads have combined for 25 runs in their first two meetings, will we see at least 10 total runs scored again tonight?
Texas Rangers @ Athletics at 9:40 p.m. EDT on MLB.TV.
After losing the first matchup in this four-game series, the Athletics got one back on the Rangers with a 2-1 victory yesterday. As a result, we once again have a tie for first place in the AL West. What's most frustrating is that there are still two games left in this series, so there may still be a tie atop the division when all is said and done. Regardless, J.T. Ginn gets the start for the Athletics, while Texas will be leaning on Kumar Rocker. Together, they average 1.14 Walks and Hits per Innings Pitched, so it'll be interesting to see how the batters fare in this one.
One question that will be answered: Since the losing team in this series has averaged one run per game, will two runs be enough for either the Athletics or Rangers to win tonight’s contest?
New York Mets @ Los Angeles Dodgers at 10:10 p.m. EDT on ESPN.
The Mets have looked inept offensively in this series, with one run scored and seven total hits in their first two matchups with the Dodgers. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like things are going to improve for New York, which is 7-11 and in the midst of the longest active losing streak in baseball at seven games. With Shohei Ohtani taking the mound for Los Angeles, it seems like a foregone conclusion that the Mets will lose this game as the Dodgers complete the sweep to improve to 14-4 on the season. Then again, crazier things have happened before.
One question that will be answered: Will Shohei Ohtani still have a perfect 0.00 ERA after starting tonight?
NBA
Orlando Magic @ Philadelphia 76ers at 7:30 p.m. EDT on Amazon Prime Video.
Similar to the Phoenix Suns-Portland Trail Blazers game last night, this matchup will directly lead to a team qualifying for the 2026 NBA Playoffs. Even though they’re without superstar center Joel Embiid, the 76ers still have All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey, as well as Paul George and former number-three overall draft pick V.J. Edgecombe. Meanwhile, Orlando comes into this one with all their starters healthy, led by former number-one overall pick Paolo Banchero. One of these teams will punch their ticket to the playoffs tonight!
One question that will be answered: Can the 76ers keep their season alive without the services of their best player?
Golden State Warriors @ LA Clippers at 10:00 p.m. EDT on Amazon Prime Video.
After the first NBA Play-In Game, we’ll find out if the Warriors or Clippers will be eliminated from postseason contention. LA has been one of the best teams in the NBA since the calendar turned over, going 31-19 since 2026 began. On the other side, we have Stephen Curry and the Warriors, who are trying to earn a spot in the #8 seed game against the Phoenix Suns. However, head coach Steve Kerr already said that Curry, Kristaps Porzingis, and Al Horford will be on minutes restrictions. We'll have to see if those three guys will make the most out of their limited minutes.
One question that will be answered: We know he won't be asked to play 40 minutes, so how many minutes will Steph Curry log tonight?
NHL
Seattle Kraken @ Vegas Golden Knights at 10:00 p.m. EDT on ESPN+.
Since the teams are set in stone for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there isn't a lot at stake tonight in the National Hockey League. This will be the only game of the six scheduled this evening that can impact postseason seeding. The Golden Knights currently hold the top spot in the Pacific Division with 93 points and 29 regulation wins. If Vegas wins or loses in overtime/a shootout, then they will clinch their division and face the Utah Mammoth in the first round of the playoffs. Should the Golden Knights lose in regulation, then the Edmonton Oilers can leapfrog them and win the Pacific by beating the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. Though the Kraken have been eliminated from the playoffs, they can still play spoiler to Vegas tonight, which should be enough motivation for them to give it their all!
One question that will be answered: With Seattle being the second-lowest scoring team in the league since the Olympic Break (62 goals scored), can the Kraken find the back of the net at least twice?
