Bayern Munich will be aiming to complete a clean sweep of domestic silverware this weekend when they contest the DFB Cup Final against Stuttgart at the Olympiastadion, Berlin, on Saturday, 23rd May.

Saturday’s clash in the capital pits the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign’s two highest scorers against each other in a shootout for silverware, though Bayern Munich are odds-on favourites to outgun VfB Stuttgart in the Pokal Final.

Last year’s winners Stuttgart, are hoping to become the 10th team to successfully defend the DFB Cup, though their record in previous meetings with Die Roten this season suggests they will struggle to reclaim their crown.

Bayern Munich vs VfB Stuttgart team news

Bayern number one Manuel Neuer has struggled with injuries this term and the veteran stopper picked up another calf strain this week, which is threatening to keep him out of Saturday’s final. If Neuer misses out, Jonas Urbig will step in to deputise.

Defender Konrad Laimer was forced off with a back injury at half time in Bayern Munich’s final Bundesliga fixture of the season against Koln and is also a doubt. Centre-half Min-Jae Kim has a knee issue and could also be absent.

Serge Gnabry and Alphonso Davies are both definitely out, with the former expected to miss this summer’s World Cup and the latter touch-and-go for the same tournament.

Stuttgart meanwhile, have no such problems. They have close to a clean bill of health and have no fresh injuries to report. Captain Atakan Karazor has been serving a suspension in the Bundesliga, but the midfielder is free to play in Saturday’s DFB Pokal Final.

Bayern Munich vs VfB Stuttgart stats

Bayern Munich’s and Stuttgart’s fates have been intertwined this season and the clubs have already crossed paths three times since the start of the domestic campaign, with drama produced on each occasion.

The Bavarians pipped Stuttgart to the German Super Cup (2-1) back in August in the season’s first Südschlager (battle of the south) and a couple of months later, Bayern hammered their rivals 5-0 in a one-sided Bundesliga bout in December.

Bayern were well on top again in April’s return league fixture, roaring to a 4-2 win in Munich that clinched the Bundesliga title for Die Roten with room to spare.

Harry Kane capped that 4-2 triumph with a strike off the bench and the prolific England man has scored five times across three appearances against Stuttgart overall this term.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany has a perfect 100% record in competitive action against Stuttgart since landing the job, overseeing wins in each of the clubs’ last five meetings.

Bayern Munich (122) and Stuttgart (72) were the Bundesliga’s two most prolific teams this season. 11 goals were registered across the sides’ two league encounters this term, while each of their last 16 tussles overall have featured over 2.5 goals, with 12 of the same matches seeing 4+ goals.

Manuel Neuer has won the DFB Cup six times to date (once with FC Schalke 04, five times with FC Bayern) and could now equal Bastian Schweinsteiger’s all-time record in the competition, if he’s fit to feature.

Bayern Munich vs Stuttgart Prediction

Bayern Munich have already bested Stuttgart three times in total this season and they walloped nine goals past their cup-final opponents in the teams’ two Bundesliga encounters.

The German champions look well-equipped to dominate again, so backing them at prices as short as 1/4 makes little sense. Instead, the outlook in the goal markets is better and backing over 3.5 goals to land appeals at a much more palatable price of 3/4.

Bayern Munich have shattered Bundesliga goal-scoring records this term, averaging 3.58 goals per 90 minutes across their 34 fixtures in the division. Kompany’s free-scoring Bavarians might even be prolific enough to get this bet over their line without help from Stuttgart.

Indeed, 14 of Bayern’s last 19 games in all competitions have breezed past a target of 3.5 goals as have six of Stuttgart’s last nine assignments.

When Bayern last faced Stuttgart in April, they racked up 28 attempts, created seven big chances and manufactured 4.61 in xG. With the formidable Bavarians leading the charge, Saturday’s DFB Cup Final could be a thrill-a-minute.
