LiveScore World Cup 2026 Group Stage Sleep Loss Table: Which Fans Face the Most Sleepless Nights?

The World Cup 2026 group stage was already a tough watch for some fans around the world, but the Round of 32 has now pushed several nations even further up the LiveScore Fan Sleep Loss Matrix. Some fans have been able to watch matches at comfortable evening times, while others have faced repeated late nights, early alarms and middle-of-the-night wake-ups.
LiveScore has now refreshed its World Cup 2026 Fan Sleep Loss Matrix to include the Round of 32, while keeping all 48 group-stage teams in the ranking.
Luck of the draw continues to favour England
England remain much lower in the ranking, sitting 36th with 2.5 hours of sleep opportunity lost. Their Round of 32 fixture against DR Congo is classed as sleep friendly under the model with a nicely cushioned 17:00pm local kickoff, meaning England’s overall total does not increase.

Algeria fans remain the hardest hit supporters in the tournament. Their three group-stage matches already created 8.25 hours of potential sleep opportunity lost, with all three fixtures falling deep inside the usual 11pm-7am sleep window. Their Round of 32 fixture against Switzerland adds another 2.75 hours, taking Algeria’s total to 11 hours.
Morocco climb from fourth to second after their Round of 32 match against the Netherlands adds another full 2.75 hours of sleep disruption. Croatia also move up from sixth to third, with their match against Portugal pushing them to 9.5 hours overall.
Morocco and Croatia climb into the top three
Morocco will be happy with their performances so far in getting to the knock-out round, however won't be too happy with the reward of a disrupted-sleep kickoff time.
Their group-stage schedule had already placed them fourth in the original ranking, with 7.5 hours of potential sleep opportunity lost. Their Round of 32 fixture against the Netherlands adds another 2.75 hours, taking them to 10.25 hours overall.
That means Morocco fans have now overtaken Tunisia and Scotland in the updated Fan Sleep Loss Matrix.
Croatia also climb sharply, moving from sixth to third. Their Round of 32 fixture against Portugal adds 2.75 hours of sleep opportunity lost, taking their total from 6.75 hours to 9.5 hours.
Sweden are another major climber, moving from 11th to fourth after adding 2.5 hours from their Round of 32 match against France.

Portugal are the biggest climbers overall, moving up 14 places after their knockout fixture against Croatia adds 2.75 hours of sleep opportunity lost. Ghana, Australia and Japan each climb 13 places, while France move up 10 places and the Netherlands move up nine.
The biggest climbers are not necessarily the teams with the worst overall totals. Instead, they are the teams whose Round of 32 matches add the most disruption compared with a more manageable group-stage schedule.
World Cup sleep impact rating explained
There are a total of five sleep bands that are used to measure how affected fans will be.
These include:
Sleep friendly | Little or no overlap with the 11pm-7am window
Mild disruption | Some sleep overlap, but still manageable
Late-night watch | Match runs into the usual 11pm-7am sleep window
Serious sleep hit | Major sleep overlap
Sleep killer | Most or all of the viewing window lands inside the usual sleep period
How LiveScore calculated World Cup group stage sleep loss
The LiveScore World Cup 2026 Fan Sleep Loss Matrix is used for all fixtures until the end of the round of 32.
The model uses a standard 11pm-7am sleep window and measures each world cup fixture as a 2hr 45min viewing window, covering 15 minutes before kick-off, a two-hour match slot and 30 minutes post-match.
Any overlap with the local 11pm-7am window is counted as potential sleep opportunity lost. For countries with multiple time zones, an average of their main civil time zones is used.
“Sleep opportunity lost” means potential disruption rather than confirmed lost sleep.
LiveScore will also refresh the methodology for the Fan Sleep Loss Matrix for the knockout stages of the World Cup 2026.
