Timberwolves tie series with Spurs after Wembanyama's ejection

The Minnesota Timberwolves managed to outlast the San Antonio Spurs, 114-109, following the ejection of superstar center Victor Wembanyama after he was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul in the second quarter of the game for elbowing Minnesota's Naz Reid in the face. The T-wolves leaned on guard Anthony Edwards, who led all players with 36 points in 40 minutes.

Knicks complete sweep of 76ers with 30-point road win

The New York Knicks tied an NBA Playoff record for most three-pointers in a game by a team with 25 as they completed the sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers with a 144-114 victory. In place of injured forward OG Anunoby, New York guard Deuce McBride led all players with 25 points after going seven for nine from beyond the arc. As a team, the Knicks hit 57% of their three-point attempts.

Wizards win 2026 NBA Draft Lottery

The Washington Wizards will be making the first overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft after winning the draft lottery yesterday afternoon. In order, the Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, and Chicago Bulls round out the rest of the top four.

"It's our fans that have endured the most," Wizards executive Michael Winger said. "And to me, this No. 1 pick is for them. It's a reward for hanging in there with us. It's a reward to continue to support us despite sometimes really bad basketball. They knew, and they supported a multiyear teardown, a multiyear reinvention of the franchise."

The Indiana Pacers, who finished the regular season with the second-worst record in the NBA (19-63), lost their draft pick due to a trade in February with the LA Clippers for center Ivica Zubac. Indiana would have held onto its pick if it landed a top-four selection. However, the team earned the fifth-overall pick, which went back to the Clippers.

"I'm really sorry to all our fans. I own taking this risk. Surprised it came up 5th after this year," president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard said on social media. "I thought we were due some luck. But please remember - this team deserved a starting center to compete with the best teams next year. We have always been resilient."

The full NBA draft order as of today is as follows:

1. Washington Wizards

8. Atlanta Hawks

2. Utah Jazz

9. Dallas Mavericks

3. Memphis Grizzlies

10. Milwaukee Bucks

4. Chicago Bulls

11. Golden State Warriors

5. LA Clippers

12. Oklahoma City Thunder

6. Brooklyn Nets

13. Miami Heat

7. Sacramento Kings

14. Charlotte Hornets

Canadiens win second straight for 2-1 advantage over Sabres

The Montreal Canadiens took a 2-1 series lead over the Buffalo Sabres behind a 6-2 home victory last night. After Buffalo went up 1-0 in the first period, Montreal scored four straight goals before the Sabres could find the back of the net again. Canadiens forward Alex Newhook had his second straight two-goal outing, bringing his total to five in the 2026 postseason. Montreal goalie Jakub Dobes recorded 26 saves on 28 shot attempts for a .929 save percentage.

Ducks even series with Golden Knights

The Anaheim Ducks took Game Four by a score of 4-3 to tie up their series with the Vegas Golden Knights 2-2. Tied in the second, Anaheim winger Alex Killorn scored a power-play goal with a little over two minutes to go in the period to put the Ducks ahead 3-2. In the third period, Anaheim defenseman Ian Moore scored what would eventually be the game-winning goal to give the team a 4-2 lead. Though Vegas' Tomáš Hertl scored late in the third, it would be too little too late as this series now heads back to Nevada for Game Five.

Jacob deGrom becomes second-fastest pitcher ever to reach 1,900 strikeouts

Texas Rangers pitcher Jacob deGrom struck out his 1,900th batter yesterday against the Chicago Cubs, making him the second-fastest player in MLB history to reach this milestone, doing it in just 256 appearances. Hall of Famer Randy Johnson holds the current record after striking out his 1,900th batter in his 252nd appearance.

The future Hall of Famer threw seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out ten batters as the Rangers beat the Cubs 3-0.

"Every day I'm able to put this uniform on, I'm thankful for it," deGrom told MLB.com. "As a kid, it was only a dream to be able to play Major League Baseball, and to think that I might be able to accomplish really anything in this game was still just a dream. I've been very fortunate to be able to do this. So just try to keep going."

Traik Skubal could return to the field much sooner than expected

A week after it was announced that Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal would have to undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies in his left elbow, his agent, Scott Boras, said that Skubal could return to the field much sooner than originally expected.

“He will not lose the buildup that he had prior to the surgery,” Boras said during a May 10th edition of the Baseball Tonight podcast, “and he'll be able to return to performance at just a much, much earlier stage… We know from the mere fact that the normal tissue invasion and bleeding and swelling that goes with a customary arthroscope is not there. This is really almost like receiving a shot. So, time will tell, but we think it's going to be a much shorter period.”

Already a two-time Cy Young award winner, Skubal has only appeared in seven games this season, with a 3-2 record. His 2.70 ERA is good for 22nd in the MLB this year.
