Timberwolves outlast Spurs despite Wembanyama's historic performance

Even though Spurs superstar center Victor Wembanyama set a single-game NBA playoff record with 12 blocks, it wasn't enough to overcome the Timberwolves as Minnesota defeated San Antonio 104-102. Forward Julian Champagnie missed a potential game-winning shot as time expired that would've lifted San Antonio over Minnesota by one point.

This game also marked Anthony Edwards' return to the court after he suffered a deep bone bruise in the first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs. In 25 minutes of action, he went eight for 13 from the field with 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Knicks crush 76ers in Game One

The New York Knicks dismantled the Philadelphia 76ers in Game One of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, 137-98. New York guard Jalen Brunson scored 35 points after going 12 for 18 from the field. As a team, the Knickerbockers made over half of their three-pointers (19 of 37). Philly's Joel Embiid struggled in his first game since Saturday with just 14 points on three of 11 shooting.

Hurricanes rally to beat the Flyers in overtime of Game One

Former NHL MVP Taylor Hall was the hero that Carolina needed after he scored the game-winning goal with less than 1:30 remaining in the first overtime period as the Hurricanes defeated the Flyers in Game One of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. After going down 2-0 early in the first period, Carolina scored three unanswered goals to take Game One and a 1-0 lead in the series.

Golden Knights down Ducks in Game One

Though the Anaheim Ducks tied things up late in the third period, the Vegas Golden Knights responded with their own goal to take a 2-1 lead a little over a minute later. Apparently, referees missed an icing call that would have nullified the play, which Ducks head coach Joel Quenneville took issue with after the game, saying he "disagreed with the call" and that he did not receive an explanation for why the play was not stopped for icing. In the end, Vegas would score an empty-netter for a 3-1 win.

Tigers ace Tarik Skubal to undergo surgery

Detroit Tigers star pitcher and two-time Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal is having an arthroscopic procedure done to remove loose bodies in his left elbow, manager A.J. Hinch told reporters on Monday. At this time, a date for the operation has not yet been scheduled. According to ESPN, the recovery timeline for the surgery is between two and three months.

Magic fire their head coach after five seasons

Less than 24 hours after their disappointing loss to the Detroit Pistons in Game Seven of their first-round playoff matchup, the Orlando Magic announced that they had dismissed head coach Jamahl Mosley after five seasons with the team. During his tenure, Mosley accumulated a 189-221 record.

“We’re grateful to Jamahl (Mosley) for all he’s done for the Orlando Magic,” said president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman. “We appreciate his leadership and the positive contributions he made as head coach. While this was a difficult decision, we feel it’s time for a new voice and fresh perspective. We wish Jamahl and his family nothing but the best.”

Pistons give head coach a contract extension

Just a day after the Detroit Pistons won a Game Seven matchup to advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the team announced that it had signed head coach J.B. Bickerstaff to a contract extension. The terms of this deal have not yet been revealed.

Since joining the team, the Pistons have gone 104-60. Prior to his arrival, Detroit finished the 2023-24 season with the worst record in the NBA (14-68).
