Iran vs New Zealand
Mehdi Taremi (Iran) to have over 0.5 shots on target
Though he remains a divisive figure in his homeland, Mehdi Taremi continues to be a productive striker with real pedigree for Iran, and the 33-year-old is as likely as anyone to threaten New Zealand’s goal in Inglewood.
Taremi was Iran’s leading marksman during their World Cup qualification run in the AFC region, netting ten goals in 15 appearances, while his underlying player stats show that the veteran was good for an impressive 2.17 shots and 1.02 shots on target per 90 minutes.
The former FC Porto and Inter Milan star, who notched 16 times for Greek outfit Olympiacos last season, scored again for Iran in their final World Cup warm-up test against Gambia last month and Taremi is sharp enough to be a nuisance again here.
Recommended bet: Mehdi Taremi (Iran) to have over 0.5 shots on target
Saeid Ezatolahi (Iran) to concede over 1.5 fouls
Willing worker Ezatolahi is routinely at the heart of midfield skirmishes for Iran and our bet builder tips today back the 29-year-old to give away at least two free kicks against New Zealand.
No Iranian player committed more fouls (12) than Ezatolahi during the nation’s World Cup qualification campaign and the combative character plays with just as much bite for his club, Shabab Al Ahli, in the UAE.
Ezatolahi should have numerous duels to contest on Tuesday against a New Zealand engine room manned with bristly operators, so don’t be surprised if he clears a target of over 1.5 fouls with room to spare.
Recommended bet: Saeid Ezatolahi (Iran) to concede over 1.5 fouls
France vs Senegal
Michael Olise (France) to have over 0.5 shots on target
Competition for places in France’s frontline is stiff, however, Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise is fast becoming one of the first names on the team sheet.
Fresh from a scintillating second season for Bayern Munich, a confident Olise looks ready to shoulder match-winning responsibility for Les Bleus, so expect the wide attacker to let fly with his lethal left foot at every opportunity.
Olise averaged a healthy 2.75 shots and 1.06 shots on target per 90 minutes across France’s World Cup qualifiers, while he also delivered a Man of the Match display in his team’s final friendly against Northern Ireland, netting three times and finding the target with four of his six strikes.
The 24-year-old looks like a strong anytime goalscorer candidate again ahead of France’s meeting with Senegal, however, his bet builder odds in the over 0.5 shots on target stakes also appeal.
Recommended bet: Michael Olise (France) to have over 0.5 shots on target
Lamine Camara (Senegal) to concede over 1.5 fouls
Monaco anchorman Camara is one of several Senegalese players eager to use the platform of the World Cup to put themselves in the shop window, so expect the in-demand midfielder to play with extra energy in Tuesday’s tussle with France.
Camara is a well-rounded performer who scored well across numerous metrics in Ligue 1 last term, though the more defensive elements of his game are likely to be tested when he faces the French.
The 22-year-old committed 2+ fouls in 15 separate fixtures for Monaco last season, including PSG (twice), Lille, Lyon, Marseille and Strasbourg (three times), proving that Camara tends to tackle with more ferocity in higher-profile matches. Expect him to throw his weight around in similar style against France.
Recommended bet: Lamine Camara (Senegal) to concede over 1.5 fouls
Iraq vs Norway
Erling Haaland (Norway) to have over 1.5 shots on target
Ours won’t be the only bet builder feature for Iraq’s clash with Norway that includes Erling Haaland, however, the Scandinavian goal machine will deservedly be the centre of attention in Foxborough.
Backing the Manchester City poacher to score anytime offers little value, with prices hovering around the 1/4 (1.25) mark, though you can massage the odds into a more favourable 1.32 if you take the 25-year-old to register over 1.5 shots.
As always, service will be key, but if his teammates can open up the right supply lines on Tuesday, the striker will deliver. Haaland was Norway’s top scorer by a considerable distance in qualifiers, netting 16 times all told, while he also averaged a searing 5.24 shots and 3.58 shots on target per 90 minutes.
With Norway favourites to dominate both possession and territory against an inferior Iraqi outfit, expect a well-serviced Haaland to clock at least 2+ accurate attempts.
Recommended bet: Erling Haaland (Norway) to have over 1.5 shots on target
Merchas Doski (Iraq) to concede over 1.5 fouls
Our football bet builder for Tuesday closes with a selection from Iraq’s ranks, and in particular, fullback Merchas Doski, who looks like a strong prospect in the over 1.5 fouls arena at just shy of evens.
Iraq aren’t expected to make much of an impact on the World Cup 2026 standings in Group I, though they will be determined to be as competitive as possible, and Doski’s tackling could be a source of inspiration.
The 26-year-old ranked joint-first for total fouls committed (15) for Iran across their qualifiers for the World Cup, while the left back also gave away 1.98 fouls per 90 minutes for his club, Viktoria Plzen, last season.
Doski will have his work cut out to cope with the technical class and running power in the Norwegian frontline and his habit of committing fouls when the going gets tough could be on show again.
Recommended bet: Merchas Doski (Iraq) to concede over 1.5 fouls
