Friday is the second day of World Cup 2026

Friday’s World Cup action features two games between teams looking to ease their path out of Groups A and B.

In the early hours UK time, South Korea face Czech Republic in a clash that could be defined by discipline and defensive structure, while later co-hosts Canada can get the party started when they face Bosnia‑Herzegovina in Toronto.

Recommended bets:

Under 3.5 cards in South Korea vs Czech Republic

Over 4.5 offsides in South Korea vs Czech Republic

Canada to beat Bosnia‑Herzegovina

Over 17.5 Bosnia‑Herzegovina fouls

South Korea vs Czech Republic (Friday, 3am)

Both of these nations kept cards to a minimum in qualifying and there is no reason to suspect that disciplined approach will differ wildly for their first match of the finals.

South Korea racked up 16 yellow cards and no reds in their 16 qualifiers while Czech Republic totted up only nine cautions across their 10 group and play-off games.

Each team is known for their structure and preference for controlled, low‑tempo football with neither side typically engaging in the kind of chaotic play that can lead to bigger card counts.

South Korea have received fewer than two cards in eight of their last 10 internationals, while under 3.5 cards have been shown in six of Czech Republic's last seven.

Both teams defend in compact mid‑blocks, rarely pressing high or diving into risky challenges.

So this matchup should be pretty straightforward for Egyptian referee Amin Mohamed Omar, who is known for letting the game flow.

While the card count may stay low, offsides are a different story with these teams. Both rely heavily on quick transitions and wide‑area counter‑attacks, which naturally produce more marginal runs in behind.

South Korea’s forward line is prone to drifting beyond the last defender — they recorded 20 offsides across their last 10 qualifiers — while no team was caught offside more times than the Czechs (24) in European qualifying.

In a game where space is tight and attackers could be forced to gamble, it would be no surprise to see the flag raised on at least four occasions.

Canada vs Bosnia‑Herzegovina (Friday, 8pm)

The atmosphere at BMO Field on Friday should be rocking and it may give the co-hosts enough of an edge in their search for a first World Cup finals win at their third attempt.

Canada are the higher-ranked nation here and have accumulated much more major tournament experience than the Bosnians, whose only previous finals was at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Jesse Marsch’s men surprised a few with their fourth-place finish at the Copa America two years ago and have since beaten the likes of Ukraine, Wales and Venezuela.

The Canucks’ athleticism, pressing structure and midfield balance give them a clear edge over a Dragons side that have failed to win any of their last five games in 90 minutes.

Bosnia’s issue has been up top, where a tally of only four goals in the last five games tells it’s own story.

With Canada’s confidence high and Bosnia looking a bit blunt, the home side are a play to deliver three points.

Back Canada to win @ 7/10 with LiveScore Bet

Bosnia‑Herzegovina were the most penalised team in European qualifying, committing 177 fouls across their 10 games and receiving 24 yellow cards — four more than the next worst offenders.

They committed 18 or more fouls in six of their 10 qualifiers, including four of the five away from home.

Canada’s direct running and aggressive press should draw plenty of fouls, particularly in midfield where Bosnia struggle to cope with pace and movement.

If Canada take control early, Bosnia’s foul count is likely to rise as they attempt to disrupt rhythm and slow transitions.
