Chelsea to Push For Aurelien Tchouameni if Enzo Fernandez Joins Real Madrid this Summer

Chelsea will make a move for Aurelien Tchouameni should Enzo Fernandez complete a transfer to Real Madrid this summer, according to Defensa Central.
Fernandez has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish giants in recent weeks and was suspended by the Blues for two matches earlier in the season owing to comments surrounding a potential Bernabeu switch.
The west London side are open to the Argentine’s sale in the off-season but are looking to recoup most, if not all of, the £106.8m they paid to sign the midfielder from Benfica back in 2023.
Tchouameni viewed as Fernandez replacement
While it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will cough up the required fee to sign the 25-year-old, Chelsea already have a replacement lined up should Fernandez depart for the Bernabeu.
Incoming head coach Xabi Alonso is believed to be eager to work with Frenchman Tchouameni again, which could see the former Monaco man move to Stamford Bridge should Real Madrid land Fernandez.
Los Blancos are prepared to sanction the 26-year-old’s departure this summer for the right price.
A move to the Premier League has been mooted, with Manchester United previously credited with an interest in the France international.
A transfer to Chelsea would see Tchouameni and Alonso reunite, the pair having previously worked together during the latter’s brief reign as Real Madrid boss.
Tchouameni, who is currently with the France squad for the 2026 World Cup, isn’t the only midfielder to have been linked with a Real Madrid exit, with compatriot Eduardo Camavinga also up for grabs.
Xhaka also linked with Chelsea switch
Additionally, Tchouameni isn’t the only midfielder on Chelsea’s radar, with Sunderland’s Granit Xhaka a priority target for the west London side.
Xhaka is another who worked under Alonso having played an instrumental role during Bayer Leverkusen’s 2023/24 Bundesliga success.
The 33-year-old, like Tchouameni, is also with his national team for the 2026 World Cup as Switzerland gear up for their round-of-32 meeting with Algeria on Friday.
Tchouameni, meanwhile, is hoping to inspire France to victory against Sweden on Tuesday night, where the winner will meet Paraguay in the last-16 after their penalty shootout success over Germany.
